🚨URGENT🚨This dog’s name is Ranger, he is a 7yr old German shepherd. I worked with him and his owners on resource guarding, barking at the tv, and aggression towards their baby.Even with the training, Ranger just does not do well around their 1-2yr old child and they need to re-home him after an incident recently occurred between the two. They cannot give him to a shelter as the shelter will likely turn him down because of his history. The owners need to re-home him quickly because they can’t keep him in the home safely around their child. If we cannot find a suitable home for him, he is likely to be put down.A suitable home would look like:1. No kids in the home or visiting the home frequently 2. Room for exercise and play3. A person that understands dogs and dog body language 4. A single individual is ideal, however a couple will work just as well. If you’re interested please let me know and I can reach out to the owners. We will not just give him away to anyone.

Even with the training, Ranger just does not do well around their 1-2yr old child and they need to re-home him after an incident recently occurred between the two.

A suitable home would look like:

Yesterday Kade completed his training and went back home to his owners a new dog!

I’ll have a follow up lesson back in their home in a week or so to check up and see how the transition is going!

A lot of people’s go to course of action when dealing with a reactive dog is to either try and befriend it and give it cookies, or punish the hell out of the aggression with use of heavy handed aversives.Oddly enough, neither of these are the way to go. It’s important to DIAGNOSE where the behavior is stemming from and setup your training plan accordingly from there. Imagine a doctor diagnosing you with heart disease when actually you have A brain tumor. They setup a treatment plan to fix heart disease and then wonder why you’re not getting better. It’s because they’re addressing the wrong problem. The training should look at understanding where the behavior is coming from and fixing the root cause of the problem. Not the behavior itself. This dog is acting aggressive towards people/dogs/objects out of fear. He’s so scared and worked up that even if I try to stick my hand out to give him a cookie, he will likely bite my hand or jump back and bark out of fear.If I set him up to aggress towards me and then punish him and suppress him for doing so, I would only validate his fear towards me because that would be our first and only interaction…So instead, I take my time. I allow him to adapt to his new environment. I show him that there is no reason to be afraid of me. (Not bribe with cookies and food) and build a relationship around trust and fun. Until then. We walk…we sit around… we co-exist in a non conflicting way, until he shows me he’s ready to go to the next step.

If you watch closely you’ll see Kade (the German shepherd) bite me at least 4x.

Most people would assume this is a dangerous dog and that he is aggressive and should be put down.

But… all of this aggression he is showing is actually coming from a place of fear. My job will be to change his entire perception of the world around him and everyone in it. So that he doesn’t feel this fear and feel the need to act out. Stay tuned for more videos and updates on his training.

This is Cheddar. He is a dog that went through my board and train program. His owners do not have a suitable lifestyle or environment for him to be successful. They had a contract with his shelter that if they (cheddars owners) couldn’t keep him that they had to take him back to the shelter. Even though the shelter is labeled as a “no-kill” shelter they said they would have to put him down. The reason for this is because he bit their child on the face. Their child is somewhere between 3-4 years old I believe and the situation was cheddar was sleeping on the couch and she walked up to him and smacked him in the face.

During his training I had him around my son (1 year old) all day everyday for a month and a half and he never showed signs of aggression. For people that don’t understand dogs, this bite was not cheddars fault. Almost any dog would react similarly having being slapped in the face while sleeping. With this being said this is why the shelter would put him down if they brought him back. So the owners are currently looking for someone to take him in and save his life.

Whoever wishes to adopt him will also receive one free training lesson from me (if you’re in the Pittsburgh area) and if not then will do a zoom call. This will help you understand what cheddar knows, his commands, how he acts, how to play with him and how to handle him in the home. It’s preferred that there are not little kids in the home. He does come on strong when meeting new dogs but is totally fine around them. Please message me if interested or want more information.

Look at Zeta now!!

This is why I love my job! It gives me the opportunity to help dogs like Zeta have better and more fulfilled lives. Just a few days ago she was afraid to come out of her kennel and wouldn’t let me touch her. She’d whimper and whine the whole time she was out and she would squeal and scream if one of the dogs came near her.

Now she’s cuddling with me, able to be around the other dogs more confidently and playing her heart out. This is what real dog training is. 💯👊💪

Everyone, this is Mia! Mia has a lot of misplaced energy and lack of understanding boundaries. She’s also fearful and hesitant of strangers. Specifically men. She’s already stayed with me for two weeks and she has just now returned to finish her training. This girl has come along way!
