Zoey rarely, rarely puts her ears up. Usually, she will half lift one ear, but mostly she draws them down. The fact that I was able to take several pictures of her with both ears up was a first as far as I can remember. Her goofy self is down in the last picture. If you have followed this page for awhile, you know Zoey is our goofball 😆

Our puppy pen has been a goat pen for the last two months. One more week and we will introduce Momma and her kids (Elsa and Anna) to the pasture with our llamas and male goat (neutered, btw!). The "farm animals are just a hobby.

Ozzy has taken a liking to Momma. He loves giving her kisses through the fence. I think he's going to miss her!

Did you know Dobermans smile? Yes! And here is what it looks like. Our daughter was back from college last weekend. Zoey loves her (favorite human). The minute she touched her head, the smile formed.

I have a situation with the owner of a Doberman from one of our past litters. The owner's family seeks immediate rehoming to someone who could love this sweet girl through her final years (born August 2014). In short, her owner is being moved to a nursing home.

Here is the message received today:

"Hi Laura, this is Julie Martin. My mom went to the hospital on 12/24. She fell on the floor, and we found her 24 hours later. Needless to say she had to go to skilled nursing on 1/6, and we took Emma to our house, got a new fence, and tried to introduce our dogs, and Emma was not having it charging the fence outside, so we put baby gates up in the house. The dogs were fine. They just ignored each other, and one day, my husband carried the little dog into the den, and Emma jumped up to try to bite her. It was not a good deal, and we've had her for six days. We tried again outside, and Emma charged again.

I took Emma to the vet, and she tested positive for heartworm. We are treating her slow-kill method with antibiotics and Advantage flea and heartworm per vet.

I'm overwhelmed as we are moving my mom to a nursing home permanently, and I need to either take Emma to a Doberman rescue or somewhere. If you can recommend your preferred rescue and communicate with them this one if your litter or whatever they need to know any thoughts?

She's such a sweet girl. She just does not like my dog.

I have the six-month topical advantage and the antibiotics.

I would like to see her go to a nice person who understands that this dog was with one owner. Emma was totally devoted to my older mom. My mom hoped to outlive her."

New furry friend!

Meet Smoky😺 She came home with our college daughter. Smoky has spent the summer adapting to life with dogs. Grace desperately wants to be friends, but her pushy nature isn't always favorable to our feline friend.

Today, progress was made as Grace just stayed near without being a pest😆

Buster would have a birthday on July 27, but he passed a few months ago. Not sure if any of you noticed he wasn't appearing in new posts. It was a tough loss, as we loved him dearly.

Meeting the newest Garrett Grandma Garrett kept Ozzy & Roscoe while baby Garret and their parents were in the hospital, then back home adjusting. Roscoe went home yesterday. He was interested briefly, quickly moving to disinterested. The bark collar was placed on him as a precautionary measure (low setting). As a good little boy, he proved he didn't need it. Ozzy still has puppy energy, so he will be at the grandparents until baby is more stable. He has proven with a baby niece to be a good boy around kids. Emma has lived with an older adult her whole life. She is suddenly without that owner. Emma is 9-1/2, sweet, loyal, and must be the only animal. She has never been with other pets and does poorly with dogs or cats. Desperate situation. Help keep her from going to a rescue facility!
