Hi Luckie here!

Two new babies are coming in. A girl named AGATHA, 8 years young but she is in such bad shape, we are not sure if she is a Maltese, Poodle or Maltepoo. Her eyes are shut with gunk! 🤯

The second one is a Shih Tzu boy named BRISKET. He was a stray and his nails were grown into his pads. His skin is very bad and he smells like corn chips! I know because I smelled like corn chips too almost a year ago. Apparently, he is grumpy. Well, I was grumpy too when I itched all the time and yeast was crawling all over me. And his nails are daggers in his pads.

Mom called and made arrangements for them. They need help! ‘Member when mom rescued me? I had to go to the clinic many times, get medication, skin treatments, special medication for a nasty bacteria in my ears (it was driving me bonkers!), special shampoo, special food. All that transformed me into a Schnauzer! 🤣🤣 BRISKET needs the same thing (better get ready, dude, ‘cause you will be in the tub more than you’ve ever been in your whole life!)

AGATHA’s eyes are shut tight with gunk and she will need special drops to heal. And the teeth… 🤯🤯

Hi! Luckie here!

Lately, I’ve been fighting allergies BUT… 😥

It won’t stop me from talking about the sweetest, prettiest, most regal Bichon Frisé. I named LAKELYNN! 😍

Can you believe this girl is still hoping to find her forever home? Can you believe it? I can’t! 🤯

When mom rescued her, LAKELYNN was pregnant and blind. She had puppies shortly after. She nursed her pups and then she was spayed and had cataract surgery (like mom!). She can see now! 😳 All she needs is eyedrops (like mom!) daily. She is healthy, pretty and very sweet. She is very good on potty training and she is leash trained. 😇

LAKELYNN is ready to be adopted! Please share, I am on my knees, praying for LAKELYNN to be chosen! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Hey there Luckie here!

Mom had surgery yesterday and it went well. She was totally blind until this morning and her vision started to come back slowly. She doesn’t see very well right now but it’s coming back. My human sister and I are guiding her around.

She said her eye is painful and she has to do tons of drops.

I was very worried yesterday because she was gone all day and when she came back, she did look like a fly! She sat on the sofa and fell asleep. I could not get on it as the stairs were not there and I was trying to wake her up.

I whined, tapped on her leg, cried, howled, barked and she would not open her eyes and look at me! Mama decided she would sleep on the couch because she didn’t want my fursister, Mercedes, to wake her up by slapping her cheek with her paw (yeah she does that). Sabrina put me in my bed her bedroom. I was NOT happy! I wanted to know where mom was and she ignored me!

For part of the night, I screamed, cried, complained, protested but NOTHING worked! Nothing I tell ya! She did not pay attention to my misery 😤.

Today, mom went for a recheck and when she came back, I jumped on the couch next to her and sat in her lap; I put my head on her shoulder because I was afraid she would leave without me again. She promised she will sleep in her bed tonight. Everything will be back to normal so I won’t have to howler.

Oh! Mom says THANK YOU for the good vibes and the prayers!

Hey there, LUCKIE here!

Wanted to let y’all know (yes, I’m Texan 🤠) that I will take a few days off. I’m not going on vacation though. I will be taking care of mom 🙋🏼‍♀️.

She will have cataract surgery in her left eye tomorrow. She might be blind for a few days. See, (no pun intended!) mom was born without vision in her right eye. She has vision in her left eye only and it will be covered by a shield. I told her it’s good both eyes won’t have a shield because she would look like a fly! 🪰 🤣

She’s a bit nervous about it ‘cause if things don’t work right, she will be blind. I told her not to worry; I will guide her, I see everything. Especially if it’s edible! 🥩🍗

The doctor said she would have to continue to wear glasses. I asked mom if she had to wear them on her face or her head. Well, she almost always have a pair on her nose, a pair on her head and sometimes she has 2 pairs on her nose when she has that cross stitch in her hands!

Gotta go to bed now, we have to get up early in the morning. I asked mom if we would have time to have breakfast and she said that’s all I think about: FOOD! Of course, a dog has to think of his wellbeing, right? She said my stomach would be filled before she leaves for surgery.

Meet CHUCK aka CHUIE. He is 7 years old and weighs 20 pounds. Beautiful boy! Aaaaannnnd, he’s a Lhasa Apso; not a lhapso apso, not a lasso, not a lassoh absoh. A Lhasa Apso!

Have you ever heard of lhasatude? That is what is said about Lhasa Apsos.
They were bred to be guard dogs for Tibetan monks. They will tend to be possessive of their people.

He is a very good boy to someone who knows the breed and can be the boss of a Lhasa and not let him become the boss. Lhasas are smart and can call your bluff. If they feel you will let them do whatever they want, they will boss you around.

They have a very acute hearing and will hear a leaf drop and let you know about it.

LUCKIE here to remind you about LAKELYNN, who is still looking for her forever home, is not blind anymore. She had cataract surgery and is seeing and enjoying every minute.

LAKELYNN is only 4, Bichon Frisé, and had juvenile cataracts. She is not special needs anymore.

LUCKIE has been “talking” to you a lot recently. He’s a boy with a lot going on. From an enlarged heart with a 5/6 heart murmur, to severe allergies, and chronic colitis as of late.

He is on a diuretic 3 times a day, heart medicine for CHF, Tylan and prescription food for colitis, injections of B12 weekly, special shampoo for his allergies and a stringent bathing schedule to keep his skin under control.

He’s a drama queen, emotional, screamer, talker, pushover, goofball, constantly hungry, curious, smart, opinionated, sneaky, affectionate, determined, resilient, stubborn, and he has the most beautiful eyes in the world.

You might think: “Why doesn’t she let him go Home?” Because he has that spark in his eyes; he’s not done yet. He has that will to live and be naughty. We adjust his meds when needed and he bounces back. He still plays, pesters everybody, demands, cuddles, eats like a lumberjack. He still loves life. Now that he is not in pain anymore, he enjoys every day and loves his walks and comments on everything he sees.

In a few months, he will have been here 1 year. How long will he be with us? I don’t know and don’t care. However long he will be here is worth every day. He is so happy and loved!

I encourage people to adopt an older dog, a special needs dog. It is so worth it. They need to be loved, a good home until it’s their time. Whether you lose a pet at a young age to illness or an older dog the said condition, it is always painful and difficult. We just lost MAX and it was very hard. He was here for 2 years. Last month, we lost my little Poodle, Marguerite, at 17. She was with us 12 years. Two years, 12 years, the sorrow and heartbreak is exactly the same. Don’t overlook a senior or special needs to avoid that heartache. Whenever it happens, it will hurt the same way.

Just enjoy the time you get with a very appreciative and loving dog who needs you. Please don’t overlook them. They will love you regardless of who you are, what you are, whatever handicap you have or don’t have and how old you are.

These dogs are my furry babies and grandbabies with their ages and issues. We adopt these babies and with good care, patience and love, they mostly live until anywhere from 17 to 20 years old. I even had one I adopted at 17, HW+, and he passed at 24!

Mom said we are #12! Well, I beg to differ! That Stanley person doesn’t know Schnauzers! If we don’t do something, it’s because we don’t want to! Not because we’re not smart.

In the smartest SMALL breeds category, mini Schnauzers rank in 4th place. Muuuuch better! Still, the Poodle ranks at #1. What is it with these darn foo-foo dogs? Let me tell ya, my furry sis Kallie Poodle isnt #1 in my book when she pesters me or starts a scuffle with Milo! 😤

Hi again!

Update on lil ole me. I am NOT impressed! Not one bit! 😠

Sunday is bath day and mom found three crusty spots on me today. The 2 on my butt are pretty thick; like 1/4” thick. When she took these large and thick crust off my behind, some hair came with it. 😱

Mom told me we are going back to a bath every second day before it spreads 😰…. OH NOOOO!!!

The 3rd one is on my neck. Mom texted the dogtor and she replied that it was most probably a flair up of my allergies. Plus, I have another terrible ear infection. Mom cleaned and flushed my ears again; it’s not itching right now.

Do you know what she told me during my bath today? She said: “LUCKIE, you are very lucky you have beautiful eyes!” Well thanks mom!… Hold on now! What’s that supposed to mean? 🤔 Baths every other day again and the shampoo will stay on my skin for 10 minutes each time. Well, I am not happy! I tell ya right now: I will whine, complain, cry, scream until mom wraps me in a warm towel and gets me out of that tub!

Have you ever heard of a TACO TERRIER? 🤔 Well me neither! I asked mom what a Taco Terrier was and she explained it is a mix of Chihuahua and Toy Fox Terrier. I thought: “what do these dogs look like?” She expected me to wonder and said: “We have a Taco Terrier looking for a forever home. She’s 8 months old, small and cute as a button.”

She said Toy Fox Terriers are highly intelligent and have a great temperament. Her name is BONNIE and she is very active, playful and friendly. She absolutely needs a home with another playful small dog.

PLEASE watch this. Boudin still friendly, sweet, trying to get noticed. Only his foster mom did. This is the fate of a short coat male dog. He is a delight! I got to hold him and talk to him yesterday. I made a promise to him that I will find him a home. He does not shed a lot and vaccuming is not the end of the world. It’s not his fault that he came to this world a short coat male. He didn’t ask not to be a cute fluffy female dog. He is great with other dogs, loves everybody, not good with cats. His potty manners are great, leash trained, fully vetted. It breaks my heart… Still trying to find a home

LUCKIE’s UPDATE: We went to the vet on Friday to recheck his thyroid, skin, heart and ears. He got another Convenia shot, Cytopoint, bloodwork, ear cytology, heart check. His heart is stable. The ear cytology shows a bacterial infection (pseudomonas). His bloodwork is now normal.

LUCKIE is not happy about the bath and soak this morning. He scratches himself bloody. He gets it every other day and I might have do it daily until we figure out what is going on with him. He is getting the thyroid test tomorrow morning and I will post results as soon as they come in. Several dogs found a forever home on Saturday. Ten got adopted! CORONA, BUTTERCUP and CREOLE were not the lucky ones. CORONA would be great as an only boy, potty and leash trained, 3-4 years old CREOLE is very active and playful, so is BUTTERCUP. They are both about 1 year old. They don’t have to be adopted together. If they would be, their day would be spent entertaining you with their antics!

AVAILABLE AGAIN: CHUNK and DATA don’t have to be adopted together. They are neutered, current on shots and microchipped WHAT THEY NEED: -another young dog to play with -a home without young kids -an owner either working from home or mostly at home. What they DON’T need: -being more crated than not (sleep in a crate and be crated because the owner works outside the home) -to be an only dog and no other young dog to play with -young kids, toddlers -elderly owners. Why? These babies are trip hazards! The chances of outliving the owners are high and they will end up without a home as seniors themselves.

IMPORTANT: many comments ask for ages and breeds. Please read the following list, it’s all there. puppies and very active young ones will need to a home with another young dog to play with and no children under 12 years old. MAX, a Schnoodle, is 12 going on 4! He is healthy, affectionate, smart, loves to go for walks. He lost his owner in January 2022. He was transferred to SDR from another rescue. We had his fatty cysts removed, dental done and lost only 3 teeth. He is neutered and heartworm negative, and microchipped. He has been waiting for a forever home since 1 year!

Dinner time and we had seconds tonight! She loves that Freshpet!
