Did you know my bandannas are locally made? Melody is the grandmother of one of my clients and she makes all of my bandannas that are included with my grooms. I love the styles she picks and the quality is wonderful too! Which one is your favorite? I love the rainbow🌈 and the watermelon hearts 🍉
Ive been wanting to upgrade my clippers for over a year. My trusty Andis A5’s died in the middle of a groom, so that was my sign to get these beautiful, periwinkle Whal KM cordless with the corded option! I’m so excited 😍
I love this video of Jackson! 😍 This video shows huge improvement! Jax has been coming to West Michigan Pet Grooming since 2022. The first time he came to me he had to be muzzled for his ENTIRE groom. He has a loud bark and he’ll let you know when he doesn’t like something. Over time, Jax and I have learned to trust each other. I’ve learned his triggers, and he has learned that I’m just trying to help him. Yesterday he only had to be muzzled for his nails. 🥹 This video shows the importance of consistently bringing your dog to a groomer. Whether you choose WMPG, or another groomer, I hope your dog finds this kind of peace while they are at the salon. So proud of Jackson! See you next time, buddy. (shared with permission from owner)
I had some of the best dogs for my first week back at work. It means so much to me when the dogs and their parents appreciate me! 🥹
🐾I groomed one of the dirtiest Springer Spaniels yesterday! His hair is like Velcro for burrs.
I’ll never shame you for a dirty dog because this one lives rent free in my home. 😜
My dogs don’t get groomed as often as they should. Gunner needed a haircut 2 months ago but I always put my clients first. After he was out swimming in the creek yesterday for hours, he definitely needed that bath and a haircut!
My son Lincoln came to help and made grooming Gunner fun! I Love my boys!
I had an ultrasound today for my 20 week appointment. We got another confirmation on the gender of our baby 💙 #boymom
Life update:
I’ve been in the UP for the last few days. It was a beautiful family vacation but it took a lot out of me. My pregnancy is still going well and baby boy is healthy at 19 weeks gestation. 💕 I’m much more tired and nauseous today than I anticipated so if you’re waiting on a message or appointment, I haven’t forgotten, and I’ll get back to you asap.
Thank you to my wonderful clients for being patient and allowing me the flexibility to have a vacation. I haven’t had one in years and it was just what my soul needed.
I hate to break it to you but all dogs shed. 🤣
Goldendoodles and Labradoodles are the breeds I groom most. They need to be groomed every six weeks, sometimes more depending on your lifestyle.
This is Willie. He is a beautiful golden doodle, who comes to see me on a regular basis. The last time he was here the golden retriever in him needed a good spring shedding. This was the result. 😃 Willys owners gave me permission to share this to help educate anyone considering getting a curly breed.
🤨A common misconception about mixing any breed with poodles is that they will be hypoallergenic, and that they don’t shed. 🤷♀️ That’s just not true. Any dog, like a human, will always leave some hair behind. Dog hair breaks off and falls out just like ours. They also need to be washed to clean the dander under the hair. 🪮 If you don’t brush them every day, they will most likely have to be shaved when they come to see me. 🪢Matting traps moisture, and creates a breeding ground for bacteria. 😷 If your dog is extra smelly, they may have some mold growing in their coat.
I love to share what I know. I also appreciate clients like willies owner who allow me to help educate others. Grooming can be expensive but it’s necessary.
The best things you can do for your doodle.
🪮 1. Brush them daily, including their paws, and under the paw pads. I could go for days about the best combs and brushes to use so always message me if you have questions.
🚘 2. Start bringing them to a groomer as early as 10 weeks old. This will help your dog get comfortable coming to the groomer and has better behavior resulting in a better haircut.
✅3. Set up regular six week appointments with West Michigan Pet Grooming. 😉
I’m always happy to answer any questions and I appreciate when people try to learn more about how to best care for their dogs.
🚨 It is tick season again! 🚨
This is the second tick I’ve pulled off of a dog in the last week. 😮 this one was feisty! 😤
I’ll always safely remove a tick if I see one while your dog is being groomed. These pesky little bugs cause so many nasty problems! Keep an eye out, they’re hard to see.
❤️❤️ I want to say thank you so much to my understanding and patient clients. ❤️❤️
This week was emotionally draining. It was the first time in my adult life that I have experienced the loss of a pet.
💝I am so grateful for clients who were willing to reschedule and sweet dogs who were so kind to be emotional support when I would have moments that remind me of Emily.
I want to share this video because animals are just the best! This sweet girl had never been here before. She had never never met me but I was having a an emotional day. She knew just what I needed. I love my job so much 🥹
