Headed to the vet with baby Coco 💙

Coco was having some pretty scary seizures last night so we’re getting some bloodwork done & starting him on seizure meds to hopefully prevent this from continuing to happen 😔

For those of you asking for an update on baby Button ❤️‍🩹

Button was suspected to have a very deadly & contagious virus called Panleukapenia, which presents itself most commonly with vomiting & diarrhea. In addition to those symptoms she was also incredibly underweight, anemic & dehydrated.

After several days of intense supportive care, I’m happy to report that Button is doing fantastic! Her diarrhea & vomiting have ceased, anemia and dehydration are improving and she is starting to show an interest in solid food.

Go, Button! 👏🏻

Last night this little guy was brought in, just before he was scheduled for euthanasia 💔

He’s very skinny, very dehydrated & is struggling to eat. I’ve got him here in the incubator with the heat going. He’s on subcutaneous fluids, anti-nausea meds, antibiotics, appetite stimulants & since he is refusing to eat, he is being tube fed.

Hoping this little guy starts feeling better soon & turns a corner 🙏🏼

Happy New Year!! 🥳

Today we brought in our first five rescues of the year! Let me introduce you to kitten #1 of 2024- Finch 💙

Finch is a medical mystery! He has been living at the shelter for most of his life, with scabs randomly appearing all over his body. No one knows why he is covered in sores & scabs, but I promised I’d figure it out!

I’ll keep ya’ll posted on his progress!

Both June & CoCo have severe which makes them both unable to walk & do things independently. They’ll likely both be permanent residents here in Kitty Land, but at least they’ll have each other.

This week has been focused on our senior girl, Missy, and trying to find some sort of explanation as to why she refuses to eat and has turned into skin & bones 😔

Her bloodwork levels were all in normal ranges, so we sent her out for X-rays, those were normal too. So we ordered a special test called a Free T4 test. This test takes a close look at her thyroid levels. Sure enough, her Free T4 test came back high, which can be an indicator of hyperthyroidism. This could explain her symptoms- poor coat quality, inappetence & weight loss.

Today Missy began treatment for Hyperthyroidism- 2 pills a day (Methimazole) for the rest of her life. But gosh, if this saves her life it would be a miracle. My heart has been breaking just watching her withering away & feeling completely helpless 💔 Hoping this is the answer we’ve been looking for.

Right now, Missy will only tolerate one specific food, it’s the only thing she will eat 😣 If you’d like to donate a box to this sweetie, it’s on sale for about $9. She would be sooooooo appreciative of any donations 🙏🏼

Colonal Sanders has glown up & is now adoption ready!! 🧡

Little Colonal is a sweet, adorable, playful little guy who enjoys the company of humans and cat friends. He has moderate CH, which means he can take about 3 steps before falling over on his side & then getting back up again! He does everything independently & is fully litterbox trained. Colonel does not do stairs or climb furniture (that’s a big plus if you ask me!). Oh, and he is a BOBTAIL kitty 🤩
Little Colonal is such a sweet, adorable little guy & deserves a loving family of his own 🥹 Please help us make that possible by sharing this post 🫶🏻 You never know who might see it!

Snatched up this little one today in a cold, wet alley. Didn’t have any traps, cages or gloves with me so I grabbed her with my bare hands 🙃

Saw other littles ones going in and out of a hole under someone’s smashed garage door. Made contact with the tenants and hope to be able to return back and catch the rest of the litter before they become too feral and unsocialized.

This area is swarming with hungry cats & kittens of all ages. Living out of garbage cans. Truly broke my heart 💔 We’ve already made contact with a local TNR group to hopefully provide some assistance & resources in this particular area.

Ya’ll know June, our resident CH kitty, but I realize it’s probably been awhile since you’ve seen me post about her.

June resides in our foster space and does a wonderful job helping socialize all our new intakes! She especially looks after our little ones who come in as orphans 🥹

Please extend the warmest welcome to rescue #298 of the year, this sweet senior gal, Missy 💜

At the age of 13.5, Missy is a very malnourished 4lbs with fur covered in matts 😔 She was surrendered when her owner became bedridden & was moved to an assisted living facility.

At the shelter, Missy was placed in ICU but wasn’t showing improvement, so she found herself scheduled for euthanasia at 4pm yesterday afternoon.

Welp, if you know the first thing about me, you’ll know that I’ll never let that happen. So Missy is now here receiving care.

We’ve already got bloodwork going on her to possibly reveal anything underlying that could be going on, I’ve also been giving fluids & appetite support because we need this girl to start eating!! Luckily, I found a food she seems very interested in, which just so happens to be the only food Big Mac would tolerate when he was also inappetent.

I hope to do right by Missy’s owner who loved her for so many years. I hope to be able to restore her health and provide for her many more wonderful years with a new family who will cherish her ❤️

When pet ownership gets tough, inconvenient & expensive, we’re the one’s here to pick up the pieces & save them.

This girl was scheduled to be euthanized TODAY but instead will be making the trip to Chicago to me tomorrow morning. I’m hoping with some diagnostics, medication & diet change we can improve her overall health ❤️‍🩹

I’ll let you all know how she does once we get her settled in.

Both senior boys are doing fantastic 💙 & are sending much love to all their supporters & to everyone who donated to their life saving medical care 🫶🏻 WE DID IT!!!!
