Northern Lights Siberians

Northern Lights Siberians We raise and breed AKC registered, pure bred Siberian Huskies. Stud service available. Siberian Huskies have always fascinated me.
(3)

Despite their sometimes intimidating look, they are the sweetest and most loving dogs I have ever owned. Their crystal blue eyes and free spirit are simply captivating. I have found some wonderful friends in my Huskies. I got my first Husky in 2008 when my husband was deployed. I wanted a dog that looked intimidating, but didn't possess a mean bone in their body. I wanted another companion for our

family- one to go on walks with us, to go on road trips with us, and to help be a distraction during that difficult time in our lives. I did tons and tons of research on the Husky before deciding to get one. I found an advertisement in the local newspaper for a male Siberian Husky who was 15 weeks old. I called, went to see him, and came back home with Demon's Kodiak aka Kody. In 2010 I decided to stud him out and an idea was born. Now, 5 years later, we are proud to be a business. We typically have only 1-2 litters a year. We are about quality; not quantity. Our puppies are all hand raised in our home with their parents, our children, and our cats. They begin socialization the day they are born as we are in the kennel daily to visit with and admire them. By the time they are ready to go to their new homes they have received their first vaccines, deworming, the beginning of house breaking, some basic training commands, socialization, and lots of love and attention. "We will forever be known by the tracks we leave".

I just want to say a big thank you to whoever passed along my last post to Liberty Kennel and to Ms. Kenedi for reaching out to me. We got our sweet Falcon (Felon) yesterday and he is just perfect! He's sweet and eager to learn and he's inserted himself into the Pack as if he'd been here his whole life. He is well received by all. This picture is of him (on left) and Pua taking a break from playing to get a drink. Pua seems to have taken him under her wing and will be a wonderful mentor to him.

Searching for another male to add to our pack/ family. So far, I've only been left hanging. Are there any breeders near Jackson, TN that have male puppies right now? I'd also be ok with an older puppy. If you're not close to Jackson, do you ship? Or can you refer me to another good breeder?

Pua is 2 years old today. I brought home a Pupcake from work to celebrate with her.

Happy 7th Birthday to my Astronomical/ Celestial Litter: Aurora (Nia), Luna (Sierra), Orien (Huck), Dipper (Niko), Comet (I can't, for the life of me, remember his name right now), and last, but definitely not least, my angel waiting for heaven, Pegasus. I hope all my babies have a wonderful birthday! Pictures welcome.

The hardest thing about the job I do
Is saying “hello” and then “goodbye” to you.
The day you were born:
Your Momma came to me with a beautiful warning:
“Come stay with me, Momma, they’re coming this morning”.
I laid on the sofa and dozed off to sleep
It wasn’t long before I heard the sound of a little puppy squeak.
Where your Momma was birthing I couldn’t ignore,
“C’mon, Nova, in the box. We can’t have puppies on the floor”.
I picked up your two siblings so fragile and sweet
And with your Momma beside me, laid them gently on the sheet.
I watched with excitement as you entered the world;
My heart filled with love and around me joy swirled.
Six perfect babies, five with fur white as snow
Two sisters, 3 brothers; my soul all aglow.
You wouldn’t let anyone hold you; you’d grumble and groan
Till they’d pass you to me and your displeasure you’d postpone.
I’d carry you around on your back, cradled like a human baby
Gazing into your unopened eyes with wonder, “Just maybe”.
Maybe I’m meant to keep this cute cotton ball
And more and more in love with you did I fall.
As the dog days of summer came to an end
I knew I’d soon bid farewell to my little furry friends.
Right then and there I decided “Little Pegasus stays”;
As “Northern Lights Wind Beneath My Wings” he’ll live all his days.
We’ve been through it all; took the good with the bad;
My wily and loyal pack of Huskies are the best friends and family I’ve had.
All of your antics and shenanigans kept me up on my toes
And what you were thinking? God only knows!
Like the time last year when you took yourself for a walk
In the middle of a storm, you strolled ‘round the block.
And then four days later I got notified
You were on someone’s porch. Oh! The relief that I sighed.
You wrapped your paws around my neck in an embrace,
And with great excitement, your kisses covered my face.
So many great memories flow from my eyes
You had me at “Hello” and now we’re saying “Good-byes”
You were born with the sunrise and left when it set
Fly high, my Pegasus, I will never forget.
For when I think of you my broken heart still sings.
You will always be my angel, Northern Lights Wind Beneath My Wings.

I'm beyond crushed. I don't know what happened. One minute he was fine, Dustin put him to bed long enough to let Lani out to go potty (she's in season), and when he opened the crate to let him back out, he was gone. I tried compressions. I tried everything I could do! My baby! I watched him come into this world! I held him and carried him around like he was a human baby before his eyes were ever open! I've lost his momma, his daddy 2 years ago, and now him. His sister, Pele, is all I have left of their lineage. I'm just devastated! I'm going to miss everything about you, Pegasus! And I'll love you forever. May we meet again someday.

Things I never realized because I never encountered the problem till now:
1) If you have two female dogs living in the same environment with a breeding male, they'll fight for breeding rights.
2) They'll fight over who gets to greet their owner first.
3) They'll fight over toys and food.
4) Female dogs who are the same age will not typically stay in one pack in the wild. They'll leave the pack and start their own.

I am well aware of the social hierarchy and body language when it comes to pack mentality and animals in general. It's never really been an issue till now. Lani keeps "posting up" to Pua. I believe she is coming into season and hormones are to blame since they generally get along very well and don't like to be away from each other. So much so that they've been on a hunger strike for the last two days. Lately, Lani has been very aggressive toward and starting fights with Pua. Pua is generally very docile, happy-go-lucky, and doesn't have a problem sharing toys or time with us. I've had to keep them in separate creates while we're at work and at night when we go to bed. I have to leash them to go out to potty or let them out one at a time. When they're inside, and that's usually most of the day, one has to be crated and they have to take turns spending time with us when we're home. I've had to take away certain toys because Lani thinks they're exclusively hers.

In all my years of growing up with, raising, and breeding dogs, I've never encountered such a sad situation. My choices are few. I can take Lani to the vet to make sure there's no underlying health issue, look into a certified applied animal behavioralist, go the management route as I've been doing so far, or rehome her to a single dog environment. That is absolutely my last resort. I don't want to do that. I'm hoping this is just temporary and that it will all blow over when her cycle ends because I do not and will not breed that kind of temperament.

I do want to note an observation that I had overlooked. Lani DOES get along just fine with Pele (5 year old, unaltered female), Pegasus, and Kenai (Altered, oldest Male). So I really do have to wonder if this behavior is hierarchy and or hormone related. I'll phone the vet for some insight.
When Pua is out she doesn't leave my side.
