🩷PRO TIP TUESDAY🩷 DOG BODY LANGUAGE DETECTION
Since our Furry Canine Friends do not speak human language it's important to read their mood by observing their BODY LANGUAGE.
Just like we humans have a body language that goes beyond speech so too do our Canine Companions. And as you well know, if you have been around the sun a decade or two, body language often tells us much more than our talk or bark! Here are a few tips to help you identify how your Furry Friend is feeling (submissive or dominant) in any given situation:
NEUTRAL/RELAXED
~ Hackles (hair) Down (smooth)
~ Head Erect Ears Up
~ Ears Up - relaxed
~ Mouth Relaxed (slightly open)
~ Weight evenly distributed on all four paws
~ Tail relaxed (down) and/or wagging
AROUSAL
~Hackles (hair) slight raised or smooth
~Eyes large, hard stare
~Ears Up - Slightly Forward at attention
~Mouth tense / Lips lifted to show teeth
~Stiffed Legged - weight over front paws
~Tail Up / Bristled Mane / Stiff Wag
Dog is stimulated by something in environment. When pleasurable the hackles (mane) will be down, tail carried lower and wag will be loose. The posture tells subordinates that he/she is higher rank in pack.
AGGRESSIVE / ATTACK
~ Hackles Raised
~ Ears Erect / Tilted Forward
~ Eyes Staring
~ Lips Curled
~ Teeth Shown / Snarling
~ Legs are in Charging Position/ Weight Forward
~ Tail Stiff and Raised
This threatening posture is used to chase away another or protect possession's, self, or pack (including owner) .
ACTIVE SUBMISSIVE
~ Hackles smooth
~Ears Back
~Eyes Half Closed / Blinking
~Mouth Slightly Closed / Tongue Darts In/Out
~One Raised Paw
~Tail Tucked (Low) / Slight Wag
Dog recognizes his lower rank with human or another dog.
Used to deter aggression from another.
PASSIVE SUBMISSIVE
~On Back / Belly Exposed
~Ears Back
~Head Turned Away / Indirect Gaze
~Tail Tucked (on belly) / Drops of Urine
This posture indicates surrender / submission to more aggressive or dominant individual.
DEFENSIVE/AGGRESSIVE
~Hackles Up (hair standing up)
~Ears back / Pupils Dilated
~Mouth tense/Teeth Exposed/Snarling
~Tail Down and Tense
~Posture mildly crouched / weight over rear legs
This postures is a warning signal that the dog is fearful and does not want to be approached. IF not headed, he will bite.

🐾MEET MY TWO NEW FURRY FRIENDS🐾
Abbie & Poppy - Cocker Spaniels 🥰
Sweet story here. When I was about 20ish I had gotten my very first apartment in downtown Little Rock my brother, Gifford and sister-n-law, Joni gifted me a Cocker Spaniel puppy that looked almost identical to these cuties. I named her Chrissy after the character on Three’s Company.
Now for the sad part . One day while potty training she got loose and after searching for days and even weeks (posted signs and all) I came to the conclusion that she had probably been stolen. Afterall who wouldn’t want a cute cuddly bundle of JOY like these.
Anyway, isn’t it cool that all these years later I would get to take care of not 1 but 2. Isn’t God good! So special!

This is an hour long visit where we meet, go through the feeding routine, learn more about the pet(s) history, and discuss procedure and policy. On occasion we will schedule a follow up visit to go through a “Mock Run” before you leave home!

ARE YOU PREPARED FOR THE NEW SCHOOL SCHEDULE?
With School Schedules starting in just a few weeks this means big changes for you, your children and your furry family!
Be sure to start getting Fluffy and kiddos ready for that change by doing the following:
~ Incorporate the upcoming schedule NOW! Consider all the things you do for your pets: feeding, pottying, play time, etc and begin adjusting the time schedule for each now rather than later.
~ Make sure you don't add stress to your four-legged friend. Consider making the arrival and leave time less dramatic. Give him/her something to play with or chew on, keep them quiet and calm before you head out the door and don't make a big scene when you leave home, just slip quietly out the door. Make the arrival home the same atmosphere.
~ Reintroduce him/her to the Crate during the day, building time in the crate little by little until you have increased to the amount of time everyone will be gone. Make sure you reward Fluffy with treats each time they successfully take to the crate!
~ Purchase Kong's to fill with treats, pick up a extra brain games from the local pet store to help him/her stay constructively active while you are away.
AND LASTLY:
Plan appropriately and arrange for your FURRY FREINDS to still have all the snuggles, love and affection they deserve while children are at school and you are busy working or running errands.

~ Check In to freshen food / water
~ Potty Break
~ Play Time Inside or In the Back Yard

Mondays are sometimes hard. You’ve had a few days to rest and reset but then there are also weekends that are busy and hectic and you find yourself exhausted even before the day gets going. I understand this way too much. To be honest today is one of those days!
So Let’s Kick the Devil in the butt and get our PRAISE ON! Afterall it’s The Joy of the Lord that is our STRENGTH!

The Rescue of Roman Walker
Update on our little bitty kitty. THE RESCUE of ROMAN WALKER We were headed to church this am and discovered Kitty got trapped on a pest control sticky pad. So needless to say we missed church in order to rescue Kitty yet again. We pulled him off the pad which was a miracle in itself, washed him with dawn powerwash spray, wrapped him in a towel and carried him off to Walmart to get him a bed, kitty food, potty pads, a jar of peanut butter and Dawn liquid soap. Brought him back , slathered him in peanut butter, massaged it in, bathed in Dawn, blow dried his coat, wrapped him in a warm blanket and set his temporary home up in the bathroom with a lil heater! Oh and we named him .. Roman Walker , cause he roamed away from momma and landed at the Walkers . We will transport him home next week to the Lake. Let’s hope our gang will be as kind to him as this crew has been! All is well in the Animal Kingdom! TODAY - we are taking care of two gorgeous Goldens , one is Sug and the other is Bailey. It’s hard to tell apart but both are being well cared for while mom is away.
