Fun fact of the day: Early dispersal of domestic horses into the Great Plains and northern Rockies” published in Science on August 10, 2022. This article presents archaeological evidence suggesting that horses reached the northern Rockies and central Great Plains by the first half of the 17th century CE, much earlier than previously thought. The research indicates that Indigenous groups rapidly adopted and spread horses across these regions, integrating them into their societies before significant European contact.
