🆘🫀Bruce is a TOP PATIENT of UC DAVIS VET MEDICAL CENTER. After his 2nd visit on 11/5 the ultrasound urine and advanced IDEXX blood work revealed slight improvement in his anemia but HIS KIDNEYS HAVE WORSENED. His nephrologist Dr Le Sueur spoke with the team including 2 surgeons and 2 radiologists to determine the best course of action. Bruce is still a growing puppy at 14 weeks old, and he cannot get a cystoscopy (camera through his urethra to examine his bladder and urethra) because there is no camera small enough. Bruce either has Regurgitation (Vesicoureteral Reflux – VUR) from his bladder to his kidneys OR Stenosis (Ureteral Stricture or Obstruction) which causes a problem with his flow capacity blockage due to narrowing of the tube. BOTH CAN LEAD TO SERIOUS KIDNEY PROBLEMS AND UTIs. Tomorrow I will be scheduling him for a sedated contrast study with fluoroscopy by injecting a contrast dye (cystography followed by a voiding cystourethrogram VCUG) with live radiology to see it flow into the bladder and then watch for any regurgitation backflow or reflux into his kidneys to confirm if he has VUR. If there is no reflux the surgery team will likely recommend a CT SCAN costlier procedure which would be more anatomical. PS For anyone who thinks it’s selfish to not adopt Dori or his mother Misty at this time, Bruce gets a tremendous amount of joy and comfort from both. He clings to them (and us) with his tiny claws and uses his razor sharp baby teeth to do the husky wrestles with his sis Dori. We’re just going to remain in limbo for as long as it takes while they both put on weight and develop because Bruce’s equilibrium is off big time! Thank you for your COMPASSION. 📣We are so excited!! All year long we have been tackling some of the biggest challenges operating on a tight budget. When Lois and Stuart who have owned and loved huskies since the 1060’s and SHR long time supporters said they would do a $500 matching donation to anyone who donated $500 on they meant it. Just minutes ago that wonderful $500 donation from Suzanne💛💫 who is a huge animal advocate came through it was a powerful message that we are on the right course and doing uplifting work for the huskies in shelters and other rehoming dire situations in need! Thank you Lois Stuart and Suzanne from the bottom of our hearts for the combined total donation of $1,000!!💕 💖💘💞💓💗💝 The photos of Lois and Stuart were taken last year when they came to our rescue during a mandatory fire evacuation in our neighborhood at the sanctuary. They fostered one of our own for a couple nights until we were able to return to safety! The huskies deserve our love respect and attention!

we celebrate 10 years of rescue & thank our supporters/followers for entrusting with us the care of over 1000 huskies in need. our focus in 2025 has been to pull as many euthanasia listed huskies as possible from Southern California shelters. Our personal lives right now pivot around the huskies we care for after rescue in foster care awaiting loving permanent homes, and the rest at our sanctuary, where they will live the rest of their lives with all of medical and comfort needs taken care of. We must right now bring on board several paid employees to help us with the daily chores so we can get more huskies in shelters seen and helped before it’s too late. We plan on accomplishing those tasks by tapping into our huge database and vast network of supporters and followers. We also need to update our website so that everyone can easily interface to contribute their time, expertise and monetary help. We must broaden our base and do what the huskies need us to do which is RESCUE. There is no reason why huskies are suffering. It breaks our hearts, and we collectively must help them because the shelter system has failed them. Join Us Today by Creating a Challenge. Master Wolf with Shadow Husky Rescue is delighted to see Pearl on the cover of the December month of our 2025 calendar. Pearl is now 11 years’ old. Her Mama Andra Martinez has dedicated her entire world to Pearl and Pearl’s comfort, as Pearl’s happiness is her number one priority. I know that this rings true for all of the husky owners reading this. I reached out to Pearl’s owner today to check in on Pearl, and she said “She’s right her next to me sitting under the Christmas Tree!”
At the Shadow Husky Rescue sanctuary we feel the same way about all of the ones we care for. Despite their individual traits and characteristics we wouldn’t want it any other way! Even with Bruce Dori and Mama Misty WHO WILL SOON ALL BE READY FOR ADOPTION, it’s so easy to get completely attached!
