Athena is nursing all 6 of her day old pups and getting some privacy. I first posted about Athena on 11/1/2024 and then rescued her on 11/8/2024. California miserably failed Athena. We will never give up on her! She was out in dirt debris and filth surrounded by other strays and neglected dogs on an abandoned lot in Fontana thrown out like trash by their owners with nowhere else to go because shelters are full and refuse dogs too. Athena learned to fend for herself the hard way. For 2 months Athena looked forward to one daily routine at the same time + same location when Good Samaritan @nicole008800 her Angel on earth brought her food and water. Master Wolf responded to Nicole’s desperate cry for help when he rescued Athena on 11/8/2024 and brought her to foster @laura_schooping_medina Athena was vetted 3 times but her pregnancy was discovered late term. Athena showed signs of extreme PTSD and yet was ok with 4 other dogs including 3 huskies. Due to her toy hoarding, reactive behavior and the aggression towards the cat she was transferred to the Shadow Husky Ranch sanctuary on 12/1/2024 where she only wants to be with Master Wolf who rescued her because the huskies never ever forget who rescued them. On Friday I received the photos of the other stray dogs a few days ago from Nicole. She said that Athena hung out primarily with the scared Belgian Malinois ID #A810019 “JT” who ironically got picked up by Devore shelter on 10/29/2024 then euth listed on 11/4/24 and then was euthanized. Could HE be the Daddy of Athena’s beautiful brown baby pups? The shelter that was supposed to help JT failed him while 7-year-old Athena who is suffering from PTSD got knocked up outdoors in the elements and now has to look after 6 pups. California is in such dire straits that CHANGE must occur ASAP. Our plates are full. Each of Athena’s pups will require regularly scheduled vet appointments and vaccinations and should be available to adopt at 8 weeks old. Please consider ma

On behalf of Shadow Husky Rescue, Inc. Tim and Liz thank you so very much for being with us on our journey this week focused primarily on our sanctuary even though Tim pulled an emaciated female husky yesterday from the Lancaster Shelter Greta who had been deadlined for 12/2. Thank you also for your heartfelt messages and prayers for MukLuk💔💔💔 and Luna.🩷🩷🩷
On Wednesday, at the Shadow Husky Rescue sanctuary we observed a lump on Luna’s left arm near her radius at breakfast feeding time and we thought she had fallen off of her ottoman. Instinctively, instead of going to the regular vet, Liz took her to the ER at the Veterinary Surgical Specialists. After tests (blood, xray, ultrasound), the medical team concluded that she had an “aggressive” osteo sarcoma (a rare but treatable bone cancer that forms in the cells that create bone). Since her lungs and Xray elsewhere in her body appeared clear, we were advised that her best option was to amputate to prevent the cancer from rapidly spreading. Today (Thursday), Luna went to surgery. The low-end total of her ER and surgical costs with cytology are $5,790.62.
On Sunday, MukLuk had a debilitating seizure. He was rushed to Veterinary Specialty Hospital- North County (Ethos Vet) in San Marcos, San Diego, where he spent the night. After tests, observation and consults the medical team determined that the seizure was the direct result of metastatic cancer of the liver that had spread to his brain. We humanely made the decision to put him down on Monday. MukLuk’s 24 hour vet bill cost $4,529.94.
💲$10,320.56💲is what we put on the credit cards in the last 5 days. The sanctuary huskies and northern breeds are dogs from the shelter system that get a second chance
#GivingTuesday was created as a day for doing good It is a global generosity movement encouraging people to give back to their communities and support their favorite causes. Shadow Huskey Rescue just celebrated 10 years in existence and its founders have personally taken care of huskies in their home since 2004. We are very proud of all of the hands-on and outreach work We have achieved transforming lives rescuing huskies that are displaced, unwanted, abused, lost, abandoned or scheduled for euthanasia and provide them with a second chance at life by finding them permanent homes. We are constructing our second sanctuary in North San Diego County and we are committed for life to all of the Huskies in our large network of adopters and Fosters. We so very much appreciate you our supporters for being with us along our journey and hope that you will help us make progress and breakthroughs in the future. What are you doing this Giving Tuesday?
If you are able, please donate to our charity. 100% of your donations go to the Huskies. We remain an all Volunteer rescue organization. Help us spread awareness about the perilous situation California Huskies are in and help us find Adopters and Fosters. Volunteer your time you have no idea what a difference you can make. This giving Tuesday is especially important as we have taken on quite a few abuse cases this year, as well as providing shelter and continuous care to many huskies in need at our Sanctuary working round the clock. Our goal remains to have also a full-blown adoption facility open next year. Huskies are close our hearts and we know they are also close to yours. This is our lifetime commitment thank you for being part of our family.

Master Wolf Tim McVicker is the head chef at the Shadow Husky Rescue sanctuary! Every night while the huskies are sleeping they smell delicious aromas of foods MW prepares at various hours during the night. Then in the morning time, he prepares their breakfast goulash adding vegetables and pumpkin. Sometimes he even sprinkles a little cheese on top to get their tastebuds going. The huskies say Yummy in my Tummy!!!! 🐕💘🐕💘🐕💘🐕💘🐕💘
