IS YOUR MISSING DOG SITTING IN A SHELTER WITH A MICROCHIP AND NO WAY TO BE SCANNED? Did you know that not all vets and animal controls have universal scanners? There is a chance your dog could be found, scanned, and a message pops back "no tag".
We took Elliott (Ramsey's adopted sister, a beautiful mixed breed from animal control). We had her scanned with the 2 scanners at our local animal control. One scanner shot back: NO TAG. While the other popped up her info. Then when we plugged her number into one database, it shot back "not registered" - EXCEPT SHE IS! So we plugged it into another database and got her info.
It's SO important that vets, shelters, and rescues be aware that their scanners may not be universal and the registries they're plugging numbers into might be shooting back unregistered for dogs that are. Take this info to your local Animal Control, Vet, whoever scans in your area and get it to them! This could be the difference in your dog making it home or not! Ask if they can do a test scan on your pet and see if your pet's microchip shows up!
Share this far and wide and let's help get these dogs HOME. And please remember, we are still looking high and low for a green eyed Great Pyrenees named Ramsey!
