THERE IS NO SAFE RAWHIDE. Rawhide is not a by-product of the meat industry. Rawhide is a by-product of the leather industry. It cannot be made without glue and bleach.

Our End of the Year Fundraiser is in full swing! We received two VERY generous donations and we are now at $1,100 in total donations! Our goal is $2,500 in donations, so please keep sharing our post!

Just a reminder from our post in late November: We have great news to share, we have an anonymous donor who will DOUBLE MATCH any and all donations made to the Save A Buddy Fund, up to a match of $2,500 from now until the end of the year!!! This is an amazing, generous offer and we are beyond grateful to our anonymous benefactor!! This means that a $10 donation will be worth $30, a $25 donation will be worth $75 just for some examples. If we can reach $2,500 in donations that will mean a huge $7,500 including the double match!

The “double match” is offered until December 31, 2024. Donations can be made by going online to our website www.saveabuddyfund.org or by mailing a check to “Save A Buddy Fund”, PO Box 871, Manistee MI 49660. Donors can also go to our website and print out a donation form if you would like to donate in someone's honor, memory, or perhaps a Christmas gift. And even if you are not able to donate, we would greatly appreciate any likes and shares, all of our Facebook followers have a HUGE impact on getting the word out about our life-saving spay-neuter programs and we truly appreciate all of you! THANK YOU!

Dixie is helping us spread the word about our fundraiser, she will be spayed soon with help from our "K9-SNAP" (Canine Spay Neuter Assistance Program). Thank you to her family for sending her photo, Dixie is beautiful!!

It was 13 out this morning when we got hay. So cold. We lost one of our older roosters last night. We had him for 3 years. He came to us as an 7 year old. I guess that a good life for such a sweet guy. We knew he wasn't doing well. He was having trouble getting into his coop, so I was picking him up at night and putting him in so he would be out of the wind and cold. I will miss him. He came to us from a man who passed away last year. I feel they are together now. His "dad" came to see him a few times before he got to sick to come over. R.I.H. to both of them

Sorry I haven't been posting a lot lately. My recovery has been a little slow with my age. The infection has cleared up and the pain isn't as bad. Dr. said it could take months to heal completely. Who knew a goat horn could cause so much damage.

Looks like we have another storm coming in. Please do your best to stay safe and keep the animals warm. Straw is best but pine bedding works great also. (we use both in the chicken coops.) Wishing you all a great week.

Today is not a good day to be on the road or even outside. Two trips up to our hay guy this morning. One for hay and grain and the other for straw. The roads are not really bad but people are driving like there is no tomorrow.

This coming Spring we are planning on adding on to our pasture. The old camper that has been sitting here for the past 7 years is gone. We are going to bring the pasture up towards the garage area. Put in a big gate to make it easier to put hay out for the animals. We have a lot of cleaning before we do this but look forward to the work.

I was able to walk around the pasture today. It was slow going, and painful but felt so good to get out and move around.

We are going to be closed for a few days. I ended up in the E.R. last night because of the whole from the goat. I have a very bad bacterial infection. I am on meds to the infection and pills for the pain. Right now, rest is what I need to do. Ed is taking care of the animals in the morning, and I will check on them during the day, but will not be doing much. If I had waited just a day or two, I would have had to stay in the hospital for a few days. This is a life-threatening infection that i have to take care now. Thank you for understanding.
