Ferry’s Ferals

Ferry’s Ferals 501(c)3 Nonprofit TNR program proudly serving South Florida’s ferals!
⁣ It all started with a feral named Ferry! (Say that five times fast).
(1)

One of our founders works in the racing industry and would regularly visit a race car warehouse in Miami. In February of 2021, she noticed a feral cat hanging around so her colleagues decided to name the cat after the inventor of Porsche, Ferry Porsche. Although timid and cautious of people, Ferry would gladly eat the wet food and treats she was given daily. Eventually, Ferry had a litter of kitte

ns, and then another, and then another. That's when we decided to step in and do the right thing for her (and her kitten, Gidget). Performing TNR on Ferry and Gidget was so rewarding that we decided to make it "official" and founded Ferry's Ferals, after our first feral Ferry! Ferry's Ferals has one goal; to perform TNR on the feral cat population in South Florida with care and compassion. Thank you for joining us as we set out to proudly serve South Florida's ferals!

Thanks for everything, Ferry. 🫶🏼

Meet Finale! Last month, we announced that we would be taking a pause from TNR to focus on our personal and professional obligations. Stepping away is never easy, specially when we found this sweet girl at our original Ferry colony!

If you don’t know Ferry’s story, here is a brief summary: Ferry was the first feral cat we ever met. She lived next to a warehouse we frequent for work. Soon she had a litter, and then another, and then another, so we watched a dozen youtube videos on TNR and Ferry’s Ferals was born. Our Ferry colony was just 3 cats, all of which went through TNR and the colony was very stable. In fact, we haven’t had a new cat at this colony in 3 years.

That is, of course, until Finale appeared the exact month we decided to step away from rescue. We lost Ferry in April of 2023 and we couldn’t help but feel like Ferry sent Finale to us.

We brought a pressure trap with us to work and little Miss Friendly walked right in. She went to the Community Cat Center in Cutler Bay where she received her spay and then came home with us to recover before being released.

While she was with us, we realized Finale was one of the sweetest cats we had ever encountered. It’s always hard to release the friendlies but sometimes that’s just the nature of animal rescue in South Florida. Our angel Ferry must’ve been watching us closely because Friends of Felines had the space to take her in!!! So after a couple of days with our sweet Finale, we handed her over to her new caregivers who will find her a forever home. We miss her already!

Finale brings our total to 111 ferals saved because of Ferry. Thank you, Ferry. How’s THAT for a grand Finale? 🫶🏼

To our incredible community of supporters,

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the closure (for now) of Ferry’s Ferals. We want to express our deepest gratitude for your unwavering support over the last two years. Because of you, we were able to provide TNR, medical care and even some forever homes to 110 feral friends!

Ferry’s Ferals started out as a passion project when our own feral, Ferry, was in need of TNR. We performed TNR on Ferry and her daughter, Gidget, in February of 2022. Our goal was to continue to do this, on the side, whenever we had some down time. We quickly learned the needs in South Florida were much greater than this and before we knew it, we were elbows deep in animal rescue.

As most of you know, animal rescue is an emotionally demanding endeavor that requires immense dedication and compassion. With the demands of our personal and professional lives, we have found that we are no longer able to dedicate the time necessary to effectively help our feral friends.

We can not begin to explain how much we appreciate the trust you’ve placed in us and the meaningful relationships we’ve built. Most of all, we will forever have a place in our hearts for the 110 ferals who rescued us. It is not a decision that we take lightly and our hearts break as we write this.

110 ferals is not nothing, but there is much more work to be done.

It is very likely we will return at some point down the road but until then: We have updated our website to include resources for Broward and Miami-Dade TNR programs. We will also keep this page active as we continue to advocate for TNR.

How can you continue to help? Donate to local TNR groups, CREATE your local TNR group, volunteer at your local rescue, adopt don’t shop and always always always, have your pets spayed and neutered.

We thank you for everything. 🫶🏼

Meet Frutti! Frutti is from our Family colony!

The Family Colony is located at a family friend’s house! They stumbled across a litter of kittens and realized that they had an entire little family. So we set out to catch Mom, Dad and all the babies. We thought Frutti was the mom of the colony but it turns out she is just a look-a-like! If you can believe it, there are two ginger girls who live in this colony. Frutti did not have an ear tip when we caught her so we took her in anyway! She went to the Community Cat Center in Cutler Bay where she received her spay.

Frutti stayed with us in our recovery room and after recovering overnight, she was released back to her colony the next day!

Fusilli stayed with us in our recovery room where she was a shy little kitten. After recovering overnight, she was released back to her colony the next day!

The Family Colony is located at a family friend’s house! They stumbled across a litter of kittens and realized that they had an entire little family. So we set out to catch Mom, Dad and all the babies. We suspect Formaggio is the dad! We took Formaggio to the Community Cat Center in Cutler Bay where he received his neuter.

Formaggio stayed with us in our recovery room where he was a very good guest. Certainly much better than his children!!! 😹 After recovering overnight, he was released back to his colony the next day!

Meet Fia! Fia is from our Formula 1 ferals colony!

We started this colony during the Formula 1 race week in Miami but are now wrapping up on some newcomers. Unlike Flat, Fia took some convincing to trap. She is very skittish and ultimately her feeder had to pretend to place food in the trap for her to finally go in! We took Fia to the Community Cat Center in Cutler Bay where she received her spay.

Fia stayed with us in our recovery room where she insisted us on showing us how much she hated us! 😹After recovering overnight, she was released back to her colony the next day!
