🚨🆘 Our friends at Southwest Florida House Rabbit Rescue need to find safe spaces for 50 rabbits by this Sunday and they need help!

If you live in Miami-Dade, Broward, or Palm Beach County and have room in your heart (and a 4ft x 4ft space in your home) to foster a bunny, we’d love to hear from you! We’ll provide everything you need — supplies, food, advise and fundraise to cover vet care and spay / neutering.

I’m furiously working on placement on the approx. 50 rabbits on a property. Indoors homes only please. We need all picked up on Sunday. If any rescues or individuals want to apply to foster, please let me know asap. Fosters current rabbits must be fixed and living indoors. We are not just handing out rabbits unaltered. That does not help you or the rabbits. There are adults, juveniles and babies ranging from newborns, group of young rabbits 3/4 week and 6/7 week old. They all have been getting excellent food, hay and greens and no evidence of parasites. They are friendly and easy to pick up. Beautiful colors and breeds. Meet Preston!

This piggy is usually on the move and all about zooming around during floor time, but this week’s chilly weather has turned him into a snuggly lap pig. He’s happy to cozy up and chat — probably about the cold! 🥶

Preston and his (not bonded) buddy Deuce are currently on our waitlist. Their owner is preparing to serve in the military and is entrusting us with ensuring that both boys have the best future possible. Wellness checks and neuter appointments are coming up soon, and then these boys will be ready to find their forever homes!

Is it Friday yet??

Deuce is SO ready to snuggle into the wheek-end and level up his puzzle box skills! This 2 y/o Abyssinian has hair that’s as bold as his personality.

Deuce and his (not bonded) buddy Preston are currently on our waitlist. Their loving owner is joining the military and can no longer care for them, so we’re stepping in to ensure they continue receiving the top-notch care they deserve. Where we thought the cardboard house should go vs where Mistletoe thought the cardboard house should go vs the compromise we reached.

Missy got some wonderful news day! She had a re-check with Dr. Pardini and her team at Wildside - Avian and Exotic Animal Health Center and her lungs sounded nice and clear. That means no more nebulizing 3 times a day, no more antibiotics twice a day. We are no longer worried about aspiration pneumonia related to her choking incident 3 weeks ago.

It’s all flops from here on out.

When not tipping cardboard houses Maverick enjoys spending his days sploodling around in his foster home.

REW (ruby eyes white) rabbits are known for their easy-going and affectionate nature. Often referred to as the golden retrievers of rabbit. Maverick’s foster is a first time bunny care-taker and has found him to be a charming house guest. Especially once he mastered his litter-box habits! Maverick is estimated to be 6 months old, is neutered and ready to sploodle in a furever home.

Meet Buttercup, Muffin & Honeybun 🍯

These sweet older ladies are looking for a retirement foster or forever home where they can snuggle together and earn pea flakes for doing tricks. They are estimated to be 4 - 4.5 years old and are well socialized. Muffin, Buttercup’s daughter, is 4 years old is especially friendly as she was bottle fed as a baby. She loves humans almost as much as carrots!

Sadly their current owner is leaving the country at the end of the month and can’t take them. Can you help us find these girls a soft place to land where they can continue to thrive and be loved?

Meet Haymitch 🤎

Haymitch is one of the rabbits currently on our wait-list. He is patiently waiting for a foster or forever home to open up. Unfortunately his previous owner is moving and unable to take him.

Before he can be re-homed though Haymitch will need to be cleared by a vet and neutered. This costs us $400 on average per rabbit.

Throwback to baby Maverick!

🛑 Stop us if you’ve heard this story before — neighbor moves away and heartlessly dumps their rabbits outdoors to fend for themselves. From what we found out months after the fact, of the 6 or so rabbits that were originally abandoned, 2-3 died very quickly. Unlike their wild counterparts, domestic rabbits DO NOT have the instincts necessary to survive outdoors. These were bred out of them when they were domesticated. So most domestic rabbits succumb to starvation, disease or are hit by cars within just a week of being “set free.”

Luckily a kind neighbor couldn’t continue to watch the rabbits suffer and stepped in to catch 2 of the younger rabbits. They both got checked out at the vet and miraculously got clean bills of health despite their ordeal. As they were opposite s*x they were separated to prevent any accidental litters before getting spay / neutered.

This 6 month old Florida White mix is neutered and ready to bring his brand of playfulness into a forever home of his own. His foster describes him as curious, friendly and easy going. He is litter-box trained and would do well in any loving home.

We’re so happy to have our dear Mistletoe 🎄 back home after quite the scare a few days ago. She’s been hospitalized with Wildside - Avian and Exotic Animal Health Center since Monday afternoon after aspirating on her dinner pellets Sunday night. It’s such a relief to see her feeling better, thanks to Dr. Veronica Pardini and her amazing team. We can’t thank them enough, and we’re so grateful to everyone who reached out privately to checked in on her and send love and support.

If anyone would like to make a donation to help offset the cost of her hospitalization and care we would greatly appreciate it. We are happy to provide a copy of her invoices to donors upon request.

Our hearts go out to Chris 🙏♥️ This is a heartbreaking reminder of how fragile rabbits are, especially babies. Sadly, for every Chris in a rescue, there are likely dozens of rabbits that were purchased as Christmas gifts for children, suffering from similar injuries who won’t receiving the veterinary care they need.

East Coast Rabbit Rescue thank you for saving him. We’re wishing him a speedy recovery!
