We are so incredibly proud of two patients who recently received Animal Hero Awards from the Delaware Veterinary Medical Association! 🏆

The first award was presented to Gilligan “Gilly” in recognition of her bravery and amazing character when recently alerting her family, Paul & Emily Chamberlin, to an intruder in their home, preventing a more serious scenario.

She's brave, beautiful and so courageous! Gilly was nominated by our very own Heather Cruz-Hackett, LVT. We are so proud of you, Gilly! 👏

It may be getting cooler outside but that does not mean that you should alter your monthly parasite prevention. Fleas, ticks, heartworms and intestinal parasites still pose risk for your pets even as we enter into fall. 🍂

Hikes, trails, camping and other outdoor activities increase exposure to various parasites. It is important to utilize parasite prevention year round.

Costumes and masks, lights and decorations, and a constant parade of strangers coming to your door— Halloween can be a spooky experience for pets. 👻 You can protect your pets by taking these steps to reduce their risk of being hurt, poisoned, or lost.

- Candy is tempting! Keep it away from their reach - especially if you have a counter surfer!
- Make sure your pets have ID tags and microchips.
- Keep them away from lit candles and jack-o-lanterns.
- If you dress your pet in a costume, make sure they are comfortable and stay under your supervision while wearing it.
