Sometimes our pets need extra TLC, due to surgeries or injuries. Pets are driven to lick their injuries, due to itching and pain and it's our job to ensure their recovery process is quick and comfortable after vet care. We've chosen to share some examples of items that are available to assist your pet in recovering quickly and comfortably. *Please note, none of these items are endorsed by KMPETSITTING, LLC, we are simply sharing examples of items you can research and decide whether to utilize in your dog/cat's recovery.
In order of the pics (borrowed from Amazon), you can find inflatable pet cones, front or rear recovery/anti-licking sleeves, and surgical recovery/anti-lick body suits for pets. These could be helpful additions to ensuring your pet's comfort and successful recovery!

We wanted to bring to your attention a new addition to local pet resources. Permian Paws in Need is a local 501(c)3 non-profit organization that strives to assist individuals in the Permian Basin area with pet food needs, information, and education on responsible pet ownership.

Our Clients utilize Precise Petcare for all of their pet care needs, such as scheduling, home and pet details, invoicing, and more. After the New Client Consultation, an email registration link is sent to the Client, giving them access to the software.

In addition to the printed cheat sheet given at the Consult, Precise PetCare has a built-in Help feature should a Client require assistance. KMPETSITTING, LLC is also happy to walk through any feature in person or over the phone by setting a designated time.
Precise PetCare is accessible through any web browser OR by downloading the free app on both iTunes and Google Play. By utilizing the app, Clients will receive push notifications to their phone (must allow all notifications to work effectively) with any Visit Updates, messages from management & invoices, and the ability to quickly request drop-in visits. Without the app, Clients MUST log in through the Web and frequently check their provided email for all updates, invoices, and messages. (Clients who have the app have told us they enjoy the convenience and efficiency it offers, especially if they don't regularly check their email.)

While we are halfway through the cold/freezing season in Midland, I wanted to share some cold-weather, animal safety tips to aid pet owners in understanding their pets needs during cold temps!

While our pets have fur coats that can help regulate their body temperature, they definitely require more than their God-given fur to help them stay happy and healthy in the cold. Like people, cats and dogs are susceptible to frostbite and hypothermia. If pets must be outdoors for extended periods, make sure to provide them with sufficient shelter options from the cold. A patio overhang is never enough! Shelters should be enclosed, elevated off the ground and lined with thick, dry materials that are checked/changed frequently. (Cold, wet blankets will only add to their discomfort and increase the odds of health issues.)

If your dog gets walked, consider shortening your dog-walking time, ensure your senior dogs avoid ice they could slip on and aggravate arthritic conditions, and make sure to clean your pups feet thoroughly once returning home to remove any salt/de-icer they may have picked up on their walk. Licking these chemicals from their feet will cause illness and even poisoning.

**KMPETSITTING, LLC employs the following for all pets in our care during the Winter months...no pet will be left outdoors when temps are below 45 degrees without sufficient shelter or access to indoors; dogs do not get walked when the temp is below freezing and will receive focused TLC and playtime indoors instead; all dogs getting walked during ice/snow will have their feet cleaned to remove deicing chemicals once returning home.**

Just wanted to give a quick update on Turkey, the foster puppy from Thanksgiving. He was blessed a few weeks ago with an amazing mom and dad in East Texas. He is being spoiled rotten and sporting all the latest fashion!
To all the fosters out there...God bless you! Fostering is hard!! In addition to having your household go through changes (working around other pets, routines getting shook like some dice in a Yahtzee game, devoting your time working with and cleaning up after them), Foster's basically give away a little piece of their heart to each pet they've loved and cared for. Fostering is a superpower and I admire, respect and pray for all who are invested in saving the lives of animals that need a hero. (*Not tooting my horn, emphatically not! I could not do this on a regular basis. Fostering is A LOT! Just wanted to send some love to those that do this on a regular basis, or even those that step up once, cause it all matters! )

While this post will not affect the majority of our clients, I have felt a need to share this education on bullies/staffies in general. I absolutely LOVE every bully and staffy that we have serviced! If I didn't have 3 dogs and 3 cats, I'd 100% be looking to adopt a Staffy or a Pit as my next family member! I LOVE their personalities, their desire for affection, interaction, and hilarious expressions/antics!
KMPETISTTING, LLC will never judge a dog on its breed to be considered for pet care, butwill consider their socialization, personality, and history with caregivers/pop-in guests.

12/29/23...Poor Turkey is still looking for his fairy-tail family! I've been fostering him since 11/26/23 in the hopes of finding him a family that will love him and spoil him rotten! (I have 3 dogs and 3 cats and am unable to permanently add another pet to our household.) Turkey is about 6 months old now and is getting the hang of housebreaking/potty-training! He is such a sweet, gentle soul who loves to be the object of affection as well as play with other dogs. He plays great with my 90 lb Great Pyr and my 20 lb Shih Tzu and sees all dogs (and cats) as potential friends. He is initially leary of new people, but once he determines they are not a threat, will snuggle up quick! Since Turkey was found in an alley, I have no history on him, but have determined that he's had limited people interaction in his 6 months of life and continues to learn what is ok, safe and acceptable.
After his vet visit where he received initial immunizations, Turkey was diagnosed with a fractured/healed right elbow. Our vet said he's in no pain, but the fracture healed incorrectly, causing him to not be able to straighten his right front leg fully. The vet said no surgery would help, he's in no pain, so he has a little hop-skippity maneuver to get around. If my male Jack Russell doggo did not have an issue with Turkey being in our home, I WOULD keep him in a heartbeat!

Current Client policy reminder!!!!
PLEASE know, we will not provide pet sitting services when anyone is residing in your home, other than YOU, the contracted client. We've had multiple Clients inform us that family or friends would be staying at their home, last minute, during contracted services with KMPETSITTING, LLC. Due to our insurance/liability coverage for contracted clients' homes and pets, we will NOT move forward with providing services when anyone other than the contracted CLIENT is home. During contracted services, WE are responsible for your home's security and your pet's welfare. Having others in your home during contracted services with KMPETSITTING, LLC raises additional questions as to who did what, who is responsible, not to mention ensuring the safety and comfort of our Sitters who enter your home. Our Sitters should never have to worry about entering a home, where someone else is present, to determine who they are and assess their own safety. (Please consider whether YOU would be comfortable entering someone else's home, not knowing who is who, as well as ensuring the door that YOU locked, stays locked, not being accessed by anyone else)

Blue Buffalo QR codes - I started collecting Blue Buffalo QR codes to redeem for dog/cat food to donate to local pet food banks. I recently got a notification that they are changing their rewards program as noted in the pic. I would love to obtain enough points to finish out the Buddies program, obtaining enough points to secure a case of dog or cat food to donate. If you have Blue Buffalo qr codes (found in their food and treats) that you don't use, please, text me a pic of the qr code that I can scan into my account to end the Buddie's program with a bang!

Dec. 17, 2023 Update: So far, no one has come forward to give Turkey a chance at a forever, loving home. Please continue to share this post so that the pet parents destined for Turkey will come forward!!
You all know how much I love animals, right? Well, who would have guessed that the stray animal community has heard that too and has been whispering my name in alleys!
Meet Turkey, who was found after Thanksgiving in sad shape. I could NOT drive past this 5-pound baby and have been caring for him till he got some weight on his bones and a vet check-up.
He's looking for a family that will show him what unconditional love looks like.

In response to the Canine Respiratory Illness that is going around North America, we wanted to take a moment to let our Clients know the steps KMPETSITTING, LLC is taking to help maintain your dog’s health.
First, our Sitters are required to ensure that their hands (up to their elbows) are washed with soap and hot water prior to entering your home and interacting with your dog(s). We provide our Sitters with back-up hand sanitizer as well as disposable shoe coverings. *Shoe coverings are not utilized at every visit, but can be worn upon the Client’s specific request (each service period) for dogs that may have pre-existing health issues or older/immune-compromised dogs.
We will verify, prior to each service period, that you want your dog to continue to be walked (if you are an approved dog-walking client) and will make sure that your dog(s) do not interact with any dogs on approved walks.
As always, should we notice any health issues with your dog/pet, we will communicate those details to you for direction to ensure they are healthy and well cared for in your absence!

Being prepared in any emergency has always been a priority of mine! Making sure my family, including my pets, will have the necessary resources to thrive during an emergency situation is at the top of my to-do list. Whether it's a pandemic (like Covid, where stores were sold out of items), natural disasters, or worse, we make sure water, food, and meds are fully stocked to ensure that our pets have their daily needs met. How much pet food/water/meds do you have stocked up to ensure that your pets are able to weather an emergency situation? *Not trying to be a downer!
