Redstone Husky Rescue

Redstone Husky Rescue We are a 501c3 approved organization that provides quality care to Texas Working Breeds for adoption. All Redstone dogs are treated like our family. Thank you!

When you donate to Redstone every penny of that money donated into the rescue bank account goes toward care of the dogs. The board does this completely on a "volunteer" basis and is not, and never will be, paid with donor money. We provide the care we would want for our own pets and strive to make their lives as stress free and happy as possible while they wait for their forever homes to find them

. We are a Fear Free focused rescue and adopt several low stress method of handling and adjustment. Whether that is calming pheromones, stress jackets, music, lighting or other methods, we cater to any dog's need as best we can. We cannot make this happen without community support. If you would like to foster, adopt, or donate, please visit RedstoneHuskyRescue.org.

Nalo came to Redstone on 7/19/24 as a stray out in the country. His fur was matted and he had bite wounds on his face. He stayed with us to heal and recover, as well as get his wellness care up to date such as waiting on a neuter appointment for a few months. Our previous adopter that adopted Tephra wanted a friend for her and for them. On 10/30/24 he was officially adopted and forever home!

Kennel Update!
It is coming along! We had a few setbacks over the last few months, but we are trying our hardest to stay positive and push forward.
Slowly we are working on electrical. It's a very expensive project, but we are doing what we can when we can.

If you would like to help sponsor some fencing to prepare for dogs to move in once electrical is done, please visit RedstoneHuskyRescue.org/donate

Thank you!

Hello everyone! Please enjoy this picture of Mordecai, our 18 month old Alaskan Malamute that is still looking for a home as tax.

I am coming to you today, very late at night while I have been hard at work trying to budget in things that we need and I've come to the realization I have to ask for your help. I don't like asking for money or items, but as you all know we simply can't do our work here at Redstone and operate as a charity without the generosity of the community.

We had a moderate rainstorm last week and that, combined with other wear and tear on our sun shades, caused our sun shades to shred and we are now without two of our yards because it's still pretty hot here in Texas during the height of the day and in direct sunlight. We are not using those two yards right now.

I've added them to the top of our wishlist if you're interested in helping us out with this. We know times are tough, and we appreciate everything we are gifted here at Redstone. We are also low on laundry supplies and chews for the dogs. Everything helps.

Hey everyone! This is an incredible program that a really amazing rescue in the Dallas/Fort Worth area is putting together to help get strays back to their homes without having to go through a shelter if at all possible. They have a need for help to sponsor microchip scanners. If you want to help, please head over and check their comments for a way to donate!

Sweet, silly Ruthie went to our vet on Tuesday. They were unable to locate a spay scar or a tattoo, so they are advising we move forward with a spay for her, which is scheduled for early October.
Without records from the rescue that abandoned her, Ruthie will have a harder road ahead of her, but she doesn't seem to care.

Ruthie has already made sure we know that the stock tanks we bought last year for swimming in were purchased for her, she was just delayed getting here. She loves them. Sometimes if we can't find her, we find her laying in our 300 gallon one when her head pops up over the side.

She is a very sweet girl, and we can pursue a foster to adopt in the Dallas area so that she can complete her heartworm treatment. If you are interested, please message us!

Attached below is Ruthie's invoice for her heartworm consultation with her doxycycline. Her estimate for the injection series is $675 and will need to be paid by November for her first injection.

Hey all! It's been a while since I've posted anything new, I know. That doesn't mean all has been quiet here. For several months (actually since last year) I have been working independently (not as Redstone) to help a large group of dogs that were not cared for by the rescues that pulled them from a shelter in Houston.

Yesterday, I went to Houston with Animal Defenders Alliance (please go give them a follow!) to provide some care and assistance to nine dogs that had been abandoned by their rescue in boarding. The boarding facility has taken on ownership of the dogs, and they are doing everything they can to get these dogs the medical care their rescue should have given them.

Redstone Husky Rescue donated heartworm tests and dewormer, and I drove down to perform those tests. Four of the dogs tested positive. Ruthie, a German Shepherd/Husky mix pictured below, was one of those dogs.

Ruthie is a very sweet girl with a lot of love to give, and she has been with the boarding facility in limbo since December.... She was done so wrong by the rescue that originally pulled her, and I made a decision that since Ruthie needs heartworm treatment Redstone would be taking her on. She is the fourth dog we have taken in this year due to space, but we are squeezing her in.

As you know, we are trying to get our new kennel finished and operational. If we can do that, it would allow Redstone to help more dogs in Ruthie's situation. Y'all.... there are over 500 dogs that were taken in by these rescues and a large portion of those are in similar situations. I know we can't help them all, and for some help is coming too late, but for the Ruthies of the crowd we could help more if we had this kennel up and functional. Right now I'm aiming to raise $5000 for electrical to be wired through the building.

I think we can do it. What do you think?
I will make a separate post all about Ruthie and how I got suckered into bringing her home with me yesterday.

If you would like to support Redstone as we reach forward to try to finish this kennel and help more dogs like Ruthie, please consider sharing and donating.

Hi everyone! Janelle with Redstone here! I just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone for everything over the last several years. Today we are taking a few hours out of our usually busy days with the rescue to celebrate my birthday (with fried pickles!).

I love this rescue and these dogs with everything I have. Some days are so much harder than others, but every sacrifice we have to make is worth it to see their rescue journey come to an end when they finally leave us. I rememer each dog by name and they are all incredibly special to me.

If you would like to, please consider donating to Redstone today. We are currently raising funds to put in electrical and insulation for the new kennel so that we can continue to grow.

Thank you all so much!

Can we get some help sharing Cosette to help her find a family? She is very sweet, and has all the drama that huskies come equipped with! She would love to share her bubbly personality with people of her own!

Cosette is an approximately 1 year old spayed female Siberian Husky/German Shepherd mix. (Embark DNA results on her adoption profile!) She it petite at just 42 lbs and she is all energy in a small package!

She is very dog and human friendly, but has a flare for the dramatics. She is vocal so an understanding of her husky side is a must.

She is spayed, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, heartworm negative and on prevention, and ready to join on your next adventure!

Cosette has a lot of energy and is a very active dog, but is crate trained for when downtime is needed. She gets confused in new places so she will need someone that can be patient with her while she learns some house manners in a new setting.

This little girl is very sweet and is currently accepting applicaitons via her adoption profile on RedstoneHuskyRescue.org/adopt

Bronco is one of the sweetest boys you will ever meet. He has grown up so much in his time with us and he has learned so much in the way of manners. He is great boy and he is looking for his home. Remember! Redstone does do out of state adoptions! Please consider sharing Bronco to help him find a family!

Bronco is a very spunky and talkative 1 year old Siberian Husky. He came to us as a stray that was never reclaimed. He is very dog friendly, but he does require a playmate that will set firm boundaries with him. He can be very pushy at times and he needs to be told no by other dogs to learn. He has done great with this here with us.

He is on the higher energy level right now, but he also has learned to sit patiently for his meals and affection. He is learning manners and as he matures we believe he will really settle in and be a great "weekend warrior" type of dog!

Bronco is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm negative, dewormed and ready to put rescue dog life behind him!

If you are interested in adopting Bronco, please visit RedstoneHuskyRescue.org/adopt

Y'all. I have to brag on these three dogs that joined us at Dallas Pride yesterday.

They did AMAZING. It was an incredibly long day and the environment was terrible for adoptable dogs. There were two stages with extremely loud music on either side of the building, and we were right between both of them - Not. One. Peep. From anyone.

They took everything in stride. No one got over stressed (except me - ha) and they were perfect little rescue representatives! They greeted everyone with gentleness and love.

Geo used to have severe stranger danger, but she has learned to have so much neutrality in public. There were times I could tell she was cautious, but she investigated and approached when encouraged and given space to do so. I can't brag on her enough. I swear. She was incredible.

Shai slept through most of it. Bronco was a show stopper and guys - Bronco LOVES kids. He would do great with a family or person that has or works with children frequently. He was great. I'm so proud of him.

If you are interested in adopting any of these three, please visit RedstoneHuskyRescue.org/adopt for their profiles and applications.

Hey guys! This is a public service announcement and request. Please please please if you have my personal cell phone number do not give it out to the general public. I know everyone is trying to help as many dogs as possible, but I have over a hundred and take requests a day because of the breeds that we work with and in order to maintain my sanity I cannot have my phone going off with intake requests of dogs that I am not equipped to help right now.
