Can you help us give a girl her name?

About her:
She is 6 years old
She was a stray, taken to a veterinarian by kind people where they attempted to locate owners. None were found. She has now been surrendered to Redstone.
She is incredibly sweet and a little shadow no matter who she is in a room with.
Has been very sweet and easy to handle at her vet.

This sweet girl is unfortunately heartworm positive and will need to be treated prior to going up for adoption. She was spayed today prior to us taking custody of her.

We are SO CLOSE to being able to use our new kennel that we started work on in December 2023.
We have 8 runs that will go inside. We have food storage. We have cleaning items (mop, boom, etc). We have bowls. We have a leash hook wall mount. We have electrical

Bronco is great with kids and female dogs! He loves people and is very sweet. He would be a great weekend warrior type dog if you're looking for a companion partner this spring!

Bronco is a young adult, neutered male Siberian Husky that came to Redstone as a stray. He was very skinny and no one claimed him. The person that found him when Bronco rang his doorbell said it was likely a neighbor kicked him out.

As a young boy still, he does have higher energy and does well with other dogs that set boundaries with him. He has been learning to respect other dogs from play with them, but can be pushy with more submissive dogs.

Bronco is neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, heartworm negative and on prevention, kennel trained, appears house trained, and has learned some basic manners.

He would be good around older children or a family that can set rules for him with younger ones (he can get over excited and jump on people still, but we are learning!) or in a home that is active and looking for a weekend warrior buddy. He can be vocal when excited.

Yesterday we had quite the day. We spent several hours at our vet with a few of the dogs. The main focus, however, was Finn. We have noticed he has not been walking normally, but could not pinpoint any specific areas of pain. His range of motion in his hips and knees are great, and his spine doesn't show pain, but when he walks he is very clearly uncomfortable.

Finn's eye was removed due to glaucoma, and as such we were instructed to monitor the pressure in his remaining eye yearly. Unfortunately, his current eye is right at the cusp of needing to be treated for glaucoma. We have opted to being treating him now to see how he will tolerate eye drops rather than wait. The drops we tried last year prior to surgery he hated and it was miserbale or all of us.

Sedation was necessary to get good radiographs (x-rays) of Finn's back half. We evaluated his spine, knees, hips, all the way down to his toes. They were all beautiful, not a spec of arthritis. This led us to determine that it is likely neurological in nature, and he has been started on Gabapentin to manage nerve pain.

He will be on both chronically unless anything changes with his quality of life.

Ruthie is looking for a new home! Please help us share Ruthie to get her seen far and wide! She is super sweet and loves the water. This girl has had a HORRIBLE journey since she was pulled by another rescue and abandoned. Let's get her happy ending!

Ruthie is a super sweet girl! She LOVES the water and she has a moderate energy level.

Unfortunately, Ruthie was abandoned in boarding for a year when another rescue pulled her from a shelter and left her behind. In that year, she developed heartworm disease. We took Ruthie's care over and got her the treatment she needed and she has done really well through that process. She will need to ease back into activity over the next several months, but she has so much love to give and she is ready to start meeting families to find her match!

Ruthie is a spayed female, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and has undergone heartworm treatment. She has been good with cats in the past and is dog social. She is very exuberant, but we believe she would do well with children (may knock them over so please keep that in consideration.)

Saiph is an adult spayed female husky/Malamute mix. When she first came to us she was very shut down and it was apparent that she had recently weaned a litter and had been found as a stray in Houston.

Saiph was heartworm positive but handled treatment really well and she is fully recovered.

She is crate trained and house trained. She needs to be the only dog in the household. We do not feel she would do well with cats either due to observed prey drive.

She is very sweet people, and she is overall fairly quiet. She has the softest "wooo" of all time and is an extremely low energy dog but would enjoy walks with her people.

Cosette is a young adult spayed female Siberian Husky/German Shepherd mix. (Embark DNA results on her adoption profile!) She it petite at just 42 lbs and she is all energy in a small package!

She is very dog and human friendly, but has a flare for the dramatics. She is vocal so an understanding of her husky side is a must.

She is spayed, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, heartworm negative and on prevention, and ready to join on your next adventure!

Cosette has a lot of energy and is a very active dog, but is crate trained for when downtime is needed. She gets confused in new places so she will need someone that can be patient with her while she learns some house manners in a new setting.

Mordecai is a young adult male Malamute that came to Redstone after he was attacked by other dogs with wounds all over his body. He was also suffering from mange at that time. Mordecai has since completely recovered and he is accepting applications for his new family!

He is a very large dog and does have a significant energy level as he is younger still. He has done not do well with other dogs. Mordecai does need to learn boundaries and impulse control with new people, and he is very food motivated.

Mordecai is vaccinated, heartworm negative, microchipped with lifetime registration, dewormed, and vaccinated.

Gordon came to Redstone emaciated and barely able to walk. Through time and supplements and medical care, he has regained his weight and his nerve function to his hind leg and his tail.

He is incredibly sweet and a very gentle soul. He is crate trained and appears house trained.

Gordon is an adult male. He is neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped with lifetime registration, and tested negative for heartworm disease and has been on prevention since intake.

Gordon had been shot prior to intake with us and as such he may have a phobia of loud noises in uncomfortable environments.

Our sweet Finn is looking for a home that doesn't mind a special needs dog. He had to have his eye removed due to severe glaucoma and will need to have pressures in his healthy eye checked annually to monitor for any changes.

He is a very gentle soul that just wants to be as close to you as possible. Finn is lower energy and doesn't need to run off steam. He has dug at the fences, so monitoring his time outside is necessary to be sure he doesn't take himself on an adventure.

He can be selective with other dogs as he navigates being blind on one side, but he has had positive interactions. He showed little interested in cats at his veterianry clinic, so if you are a cat friendly home and interested we can certainly see how he interacts further on request.

Do you want to send the Redstone dogs a gift for the holidays? We have a wish list of various items! They range from everyday operational needs (trash bags, laundry items, etc) to enrichment (chews and tracheas to fill and freeze) to toys to beds. We have included our standard diet on this list as well as a bag of food can care for everyone for a week!

We have had some losses in the bedding department lately, so we've added the dogs' preferred beds to the list. These would be greatly appreciated. Not all of the dogs can have beds in their runs but those that don't eat them have them and we wash them weekly, so we do need enough to rotate.

We've also included a few things to help us set up the new kennel if that is more the direction you would like to go. We have gift cards for tractor supply and prepaid Visa cards to buy things in town like fencing and large items that are less expensive to run in and get that way.

It's Giving Tuesday, the biggest day for donations of the year. It's a day I always start to reflect on what we have accomplished this year, and what our goals might be for next year.

2024 has been so hard I can't even begin to explain it. We have suffered some losses, some very low points, and some truly heartbreaking days. It's not all bad though! We scaled intake back significantly to focus on the dogs we have in our care. It wasn't an easy decision to make, but it was what we had to do.

We are, as we announced in January, still working on the new kennel little pieces at a time. It's slow going because we have to be extremely careful with funds, but it's coming along. We hope to be able to use it by spring of 2025 if all goes well.

While our intake has slow drastically, we have been doing as much as we possibly can to help support the community in other ways by focusing on pet retention efforts. We have donated food, time, and supplies to our local shelter, and we are helping support wellness costs to keep pets in homes in this difficult economy.

Nalo came to Redstone on 7/19/24 as a stray out in the country. His fur was matted and he had bite wounds on his face. He stayed with us to heal and recover, as well as get his wellness care up to date such as waiting on a neuter appointment for a few months. Our previous adopter that adopted Tephra wanted a friend for her and for them. On 10/30/24 he was officially adopted and forever home!

Kennel Update!
It is coming along! We had a few setbacks over the last few months, but we are trying our hardest to stay positive and push forward.
Slowly we are working on electrical. It's a very expensive project, but we are doing what we can when we can.
