She's out
She went to our vet for initial vetting and we will update after she gets her leg checked out next week.

We have the chance to save another shelter dog.

But we need all the help we can get.

This beautiful girl has been put on the urgent list.
Soon to be Pre-EU list
We had one of our fosters offer to take her.
So we worked on a plan to try and get her. And got that worked out.

We were able to take her out into the play yard this week and after talking with staff they did show us her back right leg.

Which seems to be an older injury that has healed a bit crooked
So when she walks, her leg/foot turns out.

We didn't mind and said we'd take her. Because she is the sweetest girl and deserves her chance at a new happy life.

We already have an appt set up for next week to have her leg checked and make sure she is ok or if anything would need to be done.

We also need to get her initial vetting done.

Sweet Dasey got her freedom ride today.
After being a two time shelter dog
Being returned 2nd time

Today is her day to leave the shelter life behind

Huge thank you to Gracie's Project for partnering with us and helping save a Midland Shelter dog.
It truly takes a village

And to David Holman our amazing freedom rider and rescuer for driving her to meet her rescue.

They've been on numerous urgent lists but have been spared some how some way.
Many people did meet and greets with them, but decided on different dogs.

As time marched on, their time has run out. 🥺

We want to save them. Give them a new life full of new adventures. And then head north to new homes to our partner rescue.

But as you know we have to raise funds to get their vetting done.

They are both altered so we just need to raise enough to have a few things done.

We need $440 total for both dogs.
If we raise more it'll go towards our outstanding bill which as of today it's $2,300.

Levi went to our vet this morning to finish his vetting
He needed a CBC to recheck his Anaplasmosis and it checked out good so he was able to be neutered.
We are still short $200 to pay for his vetting.

Dasey is safe and out of the shelter

Midland, Tx Animal Shelter

We are desperately looking for committed foster for Dasey.

Dasey found herself in our local shelter and she sat for weeks.

Then her dreams came true and she was adopted.
Thinking how great this was. Finally a home.

But unfortunately that changed. And Dasey was back in the shelter

No fault of her own.
The other dog in the home was picking on her and was not very nice.
They tried everything to make it work but it came down to making the choice to bring her back.

We were at the shelter pulling other dogs and saw Dasey come in. It broke our hearts knowing we couldn't take her due to no more room for another dog.

She is so sweet. She got along good in her home. And we are sad it didn't work out.

All our fosters were already full with multiple dogs. Since then we have been visiting the shelter and check on Dasey.

She is so incredibly sad again and we'd love to get her out and make sure she will know she'll never go back there.

But we need a foster. A foster who can be committed to keeping her until we get her fully vetted.

And get her transported up north to our partner rescue.
This can take 4 to 6 weeks.

We take care of food and supplies

The shelter is so full and soon Dasey will be on the urgent list. Like so many other dogs.

It's 💲5️⃣ Friday again!!!

And we'd like to make it about our sweet Gunner.

Many of you remember Gunner and know his horrific story and for those who don't we will share it.

Gunner was taken into our rescue Sept 26th, 2024.
After finding out everything this poor guy endured and didn't see any other rescue want to help after he'd been posted at the Big Spring, Tx Shelter
We decided we'd be his hero especially when an amazing foster offer came in from Afton Russell

Gunner was involved in a house fire, when his owners fled so did he. But he fled on his own. Running as far away as possible, people searched for him and he was eventually found.

Stuck in a snare trap wrapped around his neck 😭
Full of wounds, completely defeated and was lucky to be alive.

Once taken into our rescue he went through rigorous treatments, what we thought was burns and mange turned into something much more.
After repeated Bloodwork, biopsies, skin scrapes and testing it was discovered he has a rare skin and blood disorder.

Several medications later trying to find out what works, our vet put together the medications needed to get his disorder under control. But it was going to be a long long road.

He is on 3 different medications and without these he will not get better. He goes every two weeks for follow ups. His prescriptions are filled every 30 days and we cannot run out or he will backslide.
These meds help his system produce hair follicles and regenerate what's needed to heal his skin from the inside out.

He is also on immunity boosters, specific food to keep him healthy.
We are very careful about what we give him. And stay diligent on this.

Gunner is the absolute sweetest dog. Showing his strength and resilience every day.
He shows the world no matter what his past is, it doesn't stop him. He is happy and loves everyone he meets.

His last appt did show some improvements. We can see where patches of hair is coming back.

But with all of this going on, it's very expensive.
Do we complain? Absolutely not.

Because this is what we do. This is rescue and we love every dog that comes to us and y'all know how we really love those special needs dogs. ❤️

His meds every month is $200
Plus the food and immune boosters you can imagine how quickly that adds up.

So we'd like to make Five Dollar Friday for Gunner.

We got to say happy tails and new adventures this morning to five amazing dogs

Headed NE to meet their families and our rescue partners.

Roony our adorable tripod who came to the shelter with a broken leg and couldn't be fixed.

Gum Drop the cutest spunkiest boy. No one came for as we thought would happen.

Comet who was last of her siblings and on the euthanasia list.
We just had to save this beautiful pup. No one else wanted.

Dusty a two time adopted shelter dog and returned. Making that 3 times being a shelter dog.
But we changed that for her. Never again did she ever have to feel abandoned.

Kahve our beautiful momma dog who was owner surrendered with her 3 pups. Then put on the euthanasia list.
Alot of planning but because of our rescue village we got them all out.

It's always a tearful day. But we know they are headed to an amazing life.
This is why we keep doing what we do.

And it's because of so many who help.
Fosters who care for these dogs and love them so much.
Without foster homes, dogs can't be saved. And we have such a wonderful family of foster homes.

And our supporters who continue to help us. Support each dog we save and believe in our mission.
And all the people involved in so many different ways

Everyone who shares.
Our rescue partners and transport team.
And to all the people who adopt our precious pups and give them such a wonderful life.

We are so grateful to everyone 🙏

She's safe and out of the shelter
Went to our vet and we got everything done.

She will need another Convenia in 10 days. We are withholding vaxx until she's completely clear of any URI.

Thank you all for the donations it helped tremendously 🙌🐾🥹

Parvo negative
Giardia negative
F***l float negative
She has a 103.5° temp and inflamed swollen tonsils.
No cough or nasal discharge. But we could hear some congestion so we are on top of getting everything on board.
Didn't get vaxx due to fever
Received a Convenia antibiotic shot and oral meds.
She is so good and just a happy girl.

☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆

We are wanting to get this little girl out today asap.

But with low funds and donations it's going to be hard.

She needs to see our vet for mutliple fecals to check for various issues, as she has diarrhea so it could be anything from Parvo to Coccidia or Giardia.

We need to raise $250
So we can get her in and do the fecals, Convenia and she'll need more puppy shots.
Plus Interceptor plus.

Puppy food.

Our foster has even named her
Sapphire
She has a pup leaving tomorrow so it's opened up a spot for another.
The shelter is maxed out and all puppy roll cages are full.

Can you believe these two gorgeous sweet dogs have been at our shelter since early November???

They've had meet and greets but unfortunately they didn't get adopted.
We had originally thought they did get adopted until it was brought to our attention today while visiting the shelter.

Biscuit and Croissant have been waiting so patiently and are the sweetest dogs.

They have been on a previous urgent list but have managed to not be euthanized.

Unfortunately their time is nearing.

We got to welcome these two adorable babies into our rescue Friday

Annie & Oakley

Abandoned/dumped on a location last week, when we received the msg on our page we wanted to help.

We posted for fosters and our sweet friends and supporters
The Wornell family said they take both.
Thanks Y'all so much 💟

They were taken to the vet and received their first puppy shots, had health checks.
Had fecals done and both have Giardia and started on meds.

Annie had a few bite wounds on her right back and front legs.
Front leg needed an xray to make sure she didn't have any bone damage, due to the swelling.
Luckily nothing broken, so she was given antibiotic shots.

Both got Nexgard and Interceptor plus.
They will need two more rounds of vaxx, recheck on the Giardia in 2 weeks.
And have been Microchipped.

Thank you to the Thomas family for saving them, keeping them safe and meeting us at the vet.
We are grateful for everything and the food, toys you donated. 🙏

Annie & Oakley are loving their new life and adventures.
Getting spoiled and getting to be puppies now.

We are needing to raise approximately $400 so we can finish their shots and recheck fecals. And pay for their vet bill.

We don't know what these poor babies lived through or if they had siblings and they didn't make it/killed by Coyotes/dumped elsewhere.
We'll never know. But we do know these two are now safe, happy and onto a new life of nothing but love.

Toby now named Roo went to our vet today for his initial vetting

He had 4dx done and positive for both Anaplasmosis and Erlichea
On Doxy for that.

Also has URI and temp was 103°
Received Convenia and oral meds

F***l negative

He will have to wait approximately 3 weeks for neuter and a 2nd Convenia in 10 days to help knock out the URI.

Then bloodwork done before his Neuter to make sure it's safe to alter per the two types of tick fever.

We desperately need help with his vetting
Today alone was about $300 plus
And that doesn't count all he has coming in the next few weeks.

This is why we run all these tests on our dogs.
So a predictable healthy dog can turn into something more.
Such as Roo. Which will end up being $700 by the time we are done.

Fortunately we got him when we did before the URI got worse.

We have about $100 so far for Roo.
