Avie Louise Furr McCoy passed away peacefully on Thursday. Her family was by her side. She was 96.
Mother was a very shy and private person, was an avid reader of biographies and history, loved all things nature, the arts, travels to Europe, and loved to shop. She had a meticulous eye for detail and was her own worst critic. A self-taught book-keeper for the family businesses until the early 2000’s, she did everything by hand, with a pencil, and it always balanced to the penny. On the side, she raised 3 of us, took care of our Father (a task in itself), prepared 3 meals a day, the house was spotless, the sheets were ironed and every hair was in place. Officially, she never worked nor received any recognition. With incredible patience and humility, she never complained about it (I felt she deserved at least a super hero cape). She was a remarkable lady with a most beautiful caring soul. We love her immensely and will miss her even more.
To honor her wishes, we will forego traditional services and visitation, instead we will have a private family event at her home that she loved so much, in the spring, her favorite time of year.
