Happy K9 Veterans Day, to all the veteran dogs out there. This is a special day for me, because working an explosive detection is what started my journey into the dog training world.

I got into training dogs with the goal of helping dog owners and their dogs learn to have a happy life together.

Over the years, I've seen dogs taken to the shelter, or rehomed for various reasons. Many times, these are reasons that are very avoidable, with just some boundaries and training.

What is worse, is watching dogs get returned to shelters, or rehomed multiple times. Especially, when those adopting the dog do not give the dog a chance, or even try to have the dog trained. Everytime a dog is rehomed or returned to a shelter (this still counts as another "home" for the dog by the way), they are likely to get more anxious. Which can lead to new behaviors or old behaviors getting worse.

So, I am happy to help out some dogs and staff over at the Humane Society of Midland County. I love that they are all willing to try and learn something new, and work with these dogs. This can help give the dog mental stimulation while in the shelter. It can also help with some anxiety for the dog while there. Lastly, it can increase the chances of the dog finding a true forever home.

Just realized I didn't post this video. 2024 was a wild year, with a lot of changes. What I will say is this: 2025 will be an awesome year. With adding more scent training, some new classes, growing the Pack program, and helping even more dog owners and dogs enjoy their lives together.
