Talk about a lot of color! The Red Coris Wrasse can be found on almost every reef in the Indo-Pacific and Hawaiian Region, and extends all the way into the Red Sea. The Red Coris Wrasse requires a 125 gallon or larger aquarium with a sandy bottom into which it will burrow to sleep, or if it is threatened.

We have one of the best selections of corals in Virginia for your reef, like this Orange Gonipora.

Goniopora are a photosynthetic coral so they derive some of their nutritional requirements from light. This is done through a symbiotic relationship with dinoflagellates called zooxanthellae that live in the flesh of the coral. The dinoflagellates are actually the photosynthetic organism and the Goniopora colony derives nutrients off of the byproducts of the dinoflagellates’ photosynthetic process. Goniopora can thrive in a wide range of lighting.

The Lemonpeel Angelfish is one of the more popular dwarf angels in the hobby. They are omniverous, and need a diet of both algae and meaty prepared foods. Macroalgae, spirulina enriched foods, and mysis shrimp are suggested. These angelfish are known to nip at both corals and clams. Lemonpeels are territorial, and will seek out an area of the tank to defend. They are known to be aggressive not only towards other dwarf angels, but also any similarly-sized or colored fish. It is adviseable to add this fish last if smaller fish are also present. Larger fish are typically unaffected. One of the larger pygmy angels, the Angelpeel grows up to 6″ in length. There are found throughout the South Pacific, as far south as Australia, as far east as Easter Island.

The Singapore Angel has a color gradient that transitions from black on the upper half of its body to white on the lower half, with intricate scale patterns. Native to the coral reefs of the Indo-Pacific, the Singapore Angel prefers an aquarium with plenty of live rock for grazing and hiding. While it can be kept in a reef tank with caution, since they may nip at soft corals and clams. It thrives on a varied diet of marine algae, spirulina, and meaty foods such as mysis shrimp. The Singapore Angel grows up to 7 inches in length and requires a minimum tank size of 100 gallons.

This juvenile niger triggerfish is a little shy and very curious. We’re having fun watching it peak at us from behind rocks and then swim backwards for cover.

Triggerfish are not the only fish that can swim backwards. Some other fish species that can are eels, carp, black ghost knife fish, Opah fish, and blue gill sunfish.

The White Face Butterflyfish is found in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden between the continents of Africa and Asia. This butterflyfish is extremely rare in the aquarium trade and is not reef safe.

We have one Helfrich’s Firefish in stock! They are a rare gem from the firefish family. Firefish have been a marine aquarium favorite because they are beautifully colored, peaceful toward other fishes, small enough to be easily housed in most aquariums, easy to feed, and not at all prone to disease. Firefishes pose no threat to invertebrates and are thus ideal for reef aquariums. Nemateleotris helfrichi is perhaps the most beautiful of all the firefishes.

This large Splatter Bubble Coral will make a bold centerpiece that commands attention! If you’re after a showstopper that brings volume, motion, and texture to your reef setup, the Bubble Coral stands out immediately in any tank. This coral gets its name from its signature oversized vesicles, or “bubbles,” which expand dramatically during the day and recede at night to expose hidden feeding tentacles. These sweeper tentacles means it needs space so it won’t sting other corals. Moderate to low lighting and water flow are required as well as a once a week spot feeding.
