The Desjardi Sailfin Tang should be kept in an established aquarium where they can graze algae from rocks and stones. If there are insufficient algae on the rocks, it is important to feed more frequently and supplement with algae rich foods. The Powder Blue Tang is found on various reefs in the Indian Ocean. These tangs are true beauties. They are prized for their vivid colors and bold markings. They will use their spines as a weapon against other fish that threaten them. They can reach up to 9 inches in length and require an aquarium of at least 125 gallons with live rock and plenty of room to swim. Stop by the shop and see these well acclimated (always important!) beauties.

Read all about the care of clams in the Sept/Oct isles of Tropical Fish Hobbist Magazine. It's good timing since we have enough clams in stock for your lagoon. The Maxima Clam is the third largest clam, and its popularity is due to the fact that no two are alike with their patterned mantles. These aquacultured Maxima Clams will generally reach 8-12” in captivity. They need strong lighting with a Kelvin range between 6K to 10K, a turbulent water flow, and very stable water conditions. We also have Blue Lip Derasa Clams and Tridacna Gigas Giant Clams! Clams are a beautiful addition to any reef aquarium and they are pretty easy to keep once you have the right lighting, flow and water parameters. We now have a variety species and sizes in stock.

The Longfin Bannerfish is also known as the “Poor Man’s Moorish Idol” since it sort of resembles the Moorish Idol but the bannerfish is better suited to aquarium life. They are striped white and black with yellow dorsal and caudal fins along with the signature long white banner fin. It is possible to keep multiple Longfin Bannerfish in the same tank. In the ocean they form small schools and pairs. They do need a larger tank when keeping multiples given their adult size and their need for adequate swimming space. They are quite passive and rarely bother tank mates. They may get bullied by larger fish species such as tangs and triggerfish.

As if its incredible, vibrant coloration and otherworldly blue tusk-like teeth weren’t enough, this unique-looking wrasse is actually hardy and acclimates well to aquarium life. Adults will grow between 8 to 12 inches. Harlequin tuskfish get their common name from their harlequin-like colors and large, protruding teeth. The four front teeth have the appearance of small tusks, which will turn dark blue as the fish matures. It uses these teeth to puncture and tear the exoskeletons of the invertebrates it preys upon. A 100 gallon or larger tank is recommended.

The Majestic Angelfish hails from the tropical Indo-Pacific region, particularly in the waters around the Hawaiian Islands and the Great Barrier Reef. The Majestic Angelfish is generally not considered reef-safe; it may occasionally nibble on soft and stony corals, primarily if insufficient food is provided. In captivity, it typically reaches 10-12 inches. With proper care and an ideal environment, these regal fish can live for over 20 years. A tank that’s 100 gallons or larger is best. Diet should include a variety of spirulina, marine algae, high quality angelfish preparations, mysis and brine shrimp, 3 times daily.

Every tank needs a few cleaner shrimp to keep your tank clean after that big 4th of July tank picnic! Cleaner shrimp are active and attractive shrimp for your tank. They can be found throughout the Pacific Ocean, more specifically in the Indo-Pacific around Indonesia and Australia. Cleaner shrimp play an important role in shallow reef ecosystems. They can be found hiding in the cracks and crevices of the rockwork all the way from 16 to 131 feet in depth. These saltwater shrimp set up cleaning stations where fish knowingly travel to get cleaned.

We’re closed today, but we’ll be open tomorrow and Saturday.
