The Longfin Bannerfish is also known as the “Poor Man’s Moorish Idol” since it sort of resembles the Moorish Idol but the bannerfish is better suited to aquarium life. They are striped white and black with yellow dorsal and caudal fins along with the signature long white banner fin. It is possible to keep multiple Longfin Bannerfish in the same tank. In the ocean they form small schools and pairs. They do need a larger tank when keeping multiples given their adult size and their need for adequate swimming space. They are quite passive and rarely bother tank mates. They may get bullied by larger fish species such as tangs and triggerfish. @aquariumprosva #marineaquarium #tropicalfishkeeping #aquariums #saltwateraquarium #saltwateraquarium
The Maxima Clam is the third largest clam, and its popularity is due to the fact that no two are alike with their patterned mantles. These aquacultured Maxima Clams will generally reach 8-12” in captivity. They need strong lighting with a Kelvin range between 6K to 10K, a turbulent water flow, and very stable water conditions. We also have aquacultured Blue Lip Derasa clams and Tridacna Gigas giant clams! All of these make a beautiful addition to any reef aquarium. They are pretty easy to keep once you have the right lighting, flow and water parameters. We recommend the book, “Giant Clams in the Sea and the Aquarium” by James W Fatherree to learn all about these beautiful sea creatures.

As if its incredible, vibrant coloration and otherworldly blue tusk-like teeth weren’t enough, this unique-looking wrasse is actually hardy and acclimates well to aquarium life. Adults will grow between 8 to 12 inches. Harlequin tuskfish get their common name from their harlequin-like colors and large, protruding teeth. The four front teeth have the appearance of small tusks, which will turn dark blue as the fish matures. It uses these teeth to puncture and tear the exoskeletons of the invertebrates it preys upon. A 100 gallon or larger tank is recommended.

The Majestic Angelfish hails from the tropical Indo-Pacific region, particularly in the waters around the Hawaiian Islands and the Great Barrier Reef. The Majestic Angelfish is generally not considered reef-safe; it may occasionally nibble on soft and stony corals, primarily if insufficient food is provided. In captivity, it typically reaches 10-12 inches. With proper care and an ideal environment, these regal fish can live for over 20 years. A tank that’s 100 gallons or larger is best. Diet should include a variety of spirulina, marine algae, high quality angelfish preparations, mysis and brine shrimp, 3 times daily.

To properly house the Horn Shark, the aquarium should be very large and have a sand substrate bottom and some rock work to provide hiding places. A sand substrate is crucial as the Horn Shark will lay on the bottom of the tank often and crushed coral or aragonite substrates will cause scratches and irritation on the Horn Sharks abdomen. Be sure to keep only large hardy specimens with the Horn Shark and by no means keep any crustaceans or mollusk as the Horn Shark will eat them. In the wild the Horn Shark is a nocturnal feeder, if possible the tank lights should be dimmed when feeding the Horn Shark to help simulate its natural habitat. Horn Sharks should never be exposed to copper based medications.

The Blue Dot Jawfish is from the Gulf of California. This species isn’t as common in the reef hobby due to limited area they can be found.
The Tomini Tang aka Flame Fin Tang is one of the more commonly kept tangs due to its staying small as an adult. Tomini Tangs reach up to about 6 inches. They are excellent scavengers and reef tank friendly. They will constantly pick at the live rock and glass looking for algae.
