We got a quick December limit today, Leo did an amazing job today. I think everybody needs a dog that tracks like this dog does. I don’t know how people pheasant hunt without one. He definitely made up for my poor shooting today. Our first rooster, I shot poorly and broke its wing. I watched this dog work that bird for a good 200-300 yards today before he recovered it. The most amazing about this tract to me was his ability to stay on task. We popped several birds in the pursuit of recovery this one, and he never let those other birds distract him or pull him off his tract. It was pretty special to watch. Then came our second rooster, I yet again broke a wing and dropped this bird on the edge of a corn field. Leo marked this bird right from the get go. When this rooster started running across that field it was off to the races. Leo was starting 50-60 yards behind that bird and he kick it into another gear. Watching him zig and zag across that field was hilarious. Finally, he caught the bird and brought I back to hand.

We all miss sometimes and recovery game is the most important part of our sport. Without a dog like Leo, these are two birds that would have been lost without the help of a good hunting dog. I will never get tired of watching these dogs work. It is always amazing to see what these dogs are capable of. I’m sure we all have experienced similar stories to this.

In the spirt of Thanksgiving I would like to share how thankful I am for all the wonderful time we got to spend in the north woods with our girls today.

Grouse hunting has been amazing this year.

And a special thanks to the wives at home that hold down the fort and put up with our crazy obsessions.

The dam, (Lone pine Everest) is a perfect dog in the house and has shown to be one of those rare dogs that truly has a on/off switch. She scored a 106 Prize 1 on her NA test, and has continued to prove that she is truly a versatile dog. The sire is Marshland’s Pirate Phil, who has a proven history of producing great hunting dogs. Congrats to Mister and his hard earned prize three. Mister is out of our A litter and is the 5th dog to post a NAVHDA prize out of that litter. He is out of Our Kate and Rockcreek Edmond. He stumbled on the track portion of the test, ruining his perfect day. He finished his test @ a solid 104 prize 3.

We have another shout out give. Thank you, Luke and Jorja Marlenee for the care and attention they have given their puppy Archie. (Homeland’s Armadylan). Archie came back to us for a little tune up before testing and was able to come out of his NA test with solid 106 prize one. He has shown a lot of potential during training and we can’t wait to see what he does in the future. He is the Third pup out of our A little to score a prize 1 in his NA test. Thank you again, Luke and Jorja for the time and effort you have put into your dog.

Congrats to Kent Johnson and his dog Nash ( Homeland Amelia). Together they were able to get a 107 prize one. You can tell much time and love he has put into Nash. 👍 We are very happy that Nash found such a great home!! Good job Kent and We can’t wait to see her in a UT in the future.
