🎆 4th of July Hazards to Watch Out for Your Pets 🎇
As you gear up for Independence Day celebrations, here are some hazards to be mindful of to keep your pets safe and happy:

🐾 Fireworks: The loud noises and bright flashes can be terrifying for pets, potentially causing them to run away or become anxious. Keep them indoors and create a safe, quiet space for them to retreat to.

🐾 Food and Drinks: Many festive foods and drinks can be harmful to pets. Avoid giving them table scraps, especially those containing chocolate, alcohol, onions, garlic, grapes, and raisins.

🐾 Glow Sticks and Jewelry: While fun for humans, these can be toxic if chewed on or ingested by pets. Keep them out of reach.

🐾 Hot Weather: If you’re spending time outdoors, ensure your pets have plenty of water and a shaded area to avoid overheating or dehydration.

🐾 Open Flames: Grills, fire pits, and citronella candles can be hazardous. Keep pets away from open flames to prevent burns or accidental ingestion of toxic substances.

🐾 Decorations: Flags, streamers, and other decorations can pose choking hazards or cause intestinal blockages if ingested. Keep decorations out of reach.

By being mindful of these hazards, you can help ensure a safe and enjoyable 4th of July for you and your furry companions!

🎆🇺🇸 4th of July Pet Safety Tips! 🇺🇸🎆

The 4th of July is a time for celebration, but the fireworks can be stressful for our furry friends. Here are some tips to keep your pets calm and safe:

🐶 Create a Safe Space: Set up a quiet, cozy area for your pet to retreat to during fireworks.

🐱 Close Windows and Curtains: This helps muffle the noise and block out the bright flashes.

🐶 Provide Distractions: Give your pet their favorite toys or a treat to keep them occupied.

🐱 Use Calming Aids: Consider pet-safe calming products like anxiety wraps or pheromone diffusers.

🐶 Stay Calm: Your pet can pick up on your emotions, so try to remain calm and relaxed.

🐱 Update ID Tags and Microchips: Ensure your pet's identification is up to date in case they get scared and run off.

Reach out to us if you need any guidance or a prescription for calming aids. We are here to help. Let's make this 4th of July enjoyable for everyone, including our beloved pets! ❤️

Is Your Pet Showing Signs of Mobility Issues?

Keep an eye out for signs like limping, stiffness, reluctance to climb stairs, or decreased activity levels. These could indicate osteoarthritis (OA) pain, a common condition that affects joints and causes discomfort. Early detection and management are key to improving your pet’s quality of life. Osteoarthritis (OA) affects about 20% of dogs. Don't let OA slow them down – schedule a check-up with us to discuss treatment options, ensuring they stay active and happy!

We had a young golden retriever in for a ROUTINE dental cleaning and look at what was under all that plaque. A fracture that exposed the pulp of the tooth!!! Ouch! These injuries are painful and can lead to serious infections. Luckily, we found it, and he won’t be hurting anymore. ❤️🐶

Next month is dental month! So, dental cleanings are 10% off. Feel free to call today to schedule.

Have you considered chiropractic care for your pet?

Many people don’t know this is an option for their pet, but chiropractic care for dogs, cats, horses, cattle, rabbits, and any animal with a spine, is beneficial and a holistic method of treating illness, disease, or pain. Animals have been receiving chiropractic care since the 1840s and the profession continues to progress by chiropractors and veterinarians who have been certified in the art, science, and technique of adjusting animals. In some situations, it is a good choice for geriatric patients who don’t handle medications well. In other situations, it is a good choice because you, as the owner, may prefer not to use medications and would rather take a more holistic route. Whatever the reason may be, chiropractic care is an excellent option for animals.

Your pet may be a good candidate for animal chiropractic if it is experiencing any of the following:

•Limping
•Arthritis/Degenerative Disc Disease
•Musculoskeletal Pain
•Trouble sleeping
•Urinary incontinence
•Fecal incontinence
•Coughing
•Anxiety
•Behavioral issues
•Performance deficiencies
•Trouble going up and down stairs
…And much more!

We are fortunate to have an animal chiropractor on staff, Dr. Mary Gibson! Please call us to set up an appointment or to leave a message and Dr. Mary Gibson will reach out to you.

📣As we approach the holiday weekend, we want to warn our clients about a name change in a popular ingredient for holiday foods, sweet treats, and goodies. Distributers have changed the name used for the sugar alternative Xylitol on some packaging. To make it sound more holistic and user friendly, food companies are calling it "Birch Sugar" or "Birch Sap". Xylitol is toxic to dogs and is in many products including some peanut butter brands!

If you suspect your pet ingested this toxin, call us or the nearest emergency hospital immediately. Take care and Happy Howl-idays! 🎄
