Snow Day at the farmstead!🌨️The biggest surprise was opening my door to my usual greeting from my sebright rooster making himself known. I was thinking that with the 5 inches of snow they would be in their coop but nope.

1st project of the year 2025!

Burning and clearing the back of our current farm to make room for a pasture for our goats! Hoping to have fencing started in the spring and the goats out here permanently in the summer!

Exciting news for the farmstead!🤗
Our own breeding line of chickens!🐓 We won't be announcing the breed until late winter just in case. They will be bred to be dual purpose chickens so meat and eggs. Progress pictures and videos will be posted as they grow.🥚💙

All of the 14 chicks we got from our 1st ever time incubating eggs! They are absolutely adorable and can wait to see how they grow out.🐥🐤💙

Update from our first incubation: We have 9 chicks that have successfully hatched! 1 Sebright, 2 barnyard mixes, and 6 Easter Eggers! We sadly did lose 1 chick from the Easter while they were hatching. We are still waiting on a few that we have seen trying to break the shell of their eggs. 🐤🥚

Our first barnyard mix has hatched! Our rooster, blue laced red wyandotte, and our mix hens, leghorn, made a beautiful little chick.

Our first ever incubated chicken egg has hatched at 1:30 pm. They hatched a day earlier than expected. Our newest little Easter egger.

We are trying to clear out our unused land for more critters.🐖🫏🦆🦚 We got the goats on land clean up for tree removal in the fall. 🐐🌳🌿

We are so excited for our first ever batch of eggs to be done cooking in the incubator! 🥚We have 11 days left and we candled yesterday for viable chicks.🐤 Only 1 egg was undeveloped and it wasn't any of the eggs from our hens.🐓

Christmas, the royal palm Tom, and his brother, Thanksgiving, are our new turkey residents. Our bourdans and slates don't seem to mind their new run mates.
