Great reference for your barn supplies

Foaling kits

I know I definitely have things that are must haves in mine and I will share them after everybody else shares what they feel is essential in their kits. Please share below what you find as a breeder essential 👇

Here is a rundown on what I have on hand.
👉Barn towels in a tote, I try to dry the baby off the best I can especially their ears
👉Palpation gloves and latex gloves
👉Lube
👉box knife
👉Flat rope like tow straps if you need to pull baby with more force than with your hands, OB straps work very well vs chains.
👉Super 7 spray for naval
👉Penicillin G I give 3cc IM at 10-12 hours old to foal 1.5cc each side of neck
👉Banamine for mare if she becomes painful, I try not to give this until the placenta passes, unless I absolutely have to 5cc orally, .5 cc to baby if uncomfortable I always involve my vet before giving.
👉Oxytocin 2cc IM or 1cc IV every hour if not passing placenta, I like to tie it up and walk mare and or trot before giving too much oxy.
👉Lutalyse if love drug needs implemented
👉Domperidone if mare needs better milk production
👉Snap tests for igg levels
👉Plasma to run on foal
👉Vet wrap to wrap mares tail
👉Dental floss or clamps for umbilical cord if it won’t quit bleeding
👉Halter on mare no matter how nice she is, some turn into alligators after foaling
👉Breeder alert on mare halter
👉Thermometer
👉Fleet e***a for baby
👉5cc syringe and needle
👉60cc syringe and AI pipette if you need to feed foal some colostrum
👉Soft long rope if you need to squeeze baby
👉Nasal aspirator
👉stethoscope
👉Cell phone and numbers to call vet or help (I try to make several people aware that I might give them a call if I have issues)
👉Foal blanket
👉Ez milker pictured
👉Foal NG tube
👉Foal powdered colostrum
👉Twine to tie up placenta
👉Large trash bag to remove placenta
👉Twitch for mare if needed
👉Muzzle for mare and baby
👉Cup to mix milk and blood from umbilical to see if it’s smooth or curdles, if it curdles don’t let foal nurse mare and call vet asap you are most likely dealing with a NI foal
👉Equimax wormer given to mare with 24 hours of birth to control foal heat scours
👉Hair dryer to dry foal off if super cold out
👉Glycoguard for baby
👉bioclay and biosponge
