I love that the SE chapter of the Wisconsin Visual Artists has a group art show that's refreshed every 3 months. It's hanging in a gallery at the Ronald McDonald House in Wauwatosa.
That space is a beautiful and calm setting for families to stay while their kiddo is receiving treatmens and care at Children's Hospital.
I also donated dog portraits to fill a suite.

What a treat to photograph these beautiful and handsome doggos! I spent a weekend with them during the MKE Studio Tour back in October.

Meet Lacis & Dersu, Beligian Tervuren is their breed.
They spoiled me being so well trained!
Lacis ( dark fur) is the greeter and pretty much loves anyone, while Dersu (caramel fur) the female is more particular.
She became my buddy during the art show.

Chris their co-owner, trains them during his off hours from the shop, Magpie Jewelry & Metals Studio in the village of Wauwatosa.
We did this session in late fall since we in WI had a warmer then norm fall temps.

"What's the best part of your job? Music is magical. There’s a song for every human feeling. I get to come to work everyday and play music that can comfort, challenge and bring joy at the same time. Interviewing my favorite musicians like Ad-Rock, Liz Phair, Alt-J, Sylvan Esso and Beth Orton has been pretty awesome too.

What's the most challenging? Leaving the heaviness of the world behind when turning on the mic each day can be daunting. But again, music has the power to transform and uplift moods. "

"If you do what you love you'll never work a day in your life"

I was honored to photograph Lisa Byington for my ongoing photo series Women's Work.

In 2021, Byington became the first female full-time play-by-play voice for a major men's professional sports team when she became the full time play-by-play announcer of the Milwaukee Bucks.

How and why did you get into your profession? Is there someone in your family that inspired or encouraged you to get in this field?

"Sports have always been a major part of my life. I briefly contemplated going into coaching or law, and then decided to continue to give broadcasting a try. If you love something as much as I love sports, and being a part of sports, why not find a way you can make it your profession? "

Even photographers need new pics for social media!

Here's my faves of this dynamic friend and photo peer Deni Storm Rogers from our collaboration back in spring.
PSA- throw that phone/camera and selfie to the side and HIRE a professional photographer.
Tips to a great photo session.
1. Ask for a referral- what did you like about them, how were they to work with?
2. Check out their socials and website- like what you see? HIRE them!
3. Do you like their style? What do you like?
4. Ask about their process, and what the shoot includes.
5. Tell them what YOU need and want. Examples: on location at one of your favorite parks, coffee shops, your home, etc.? Or in a studio with a blue backdrop, etc. ?
Show examples pulled from the webs, people!
Show them the lighting, location, feel and/or vibe you're going for with pics.
6. Discuss your usage needs.
7. Fees. What does the shoot include?
8. NEVER photograph another photographer- they're the worst client EVER! lol I kid, sort of. Love ya Deni Storm Rogers!
