We offer comprehensive consultations regarding medical, radiation, and surgical oncology, and a full range of orthopedic and soft tissue surgeries to plan the best treatment for your pet. We offer staging via radiographs, ultrasound, CT scan, arthroscopy, fluoroscopy and complete lab diagnostics.

Please give an extra warm welcome to Dr. Avenelle Turner for her first week at VCSS! 🤩

Dr. Avenelle Turner was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado and has always known she wanted to be a veterinarian. After graduating from Colorado State University with a Bachelor of Science in microbiology in 1997 and Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2000, Dr. Turner completed a one-year internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Garden State Veterinary Specialists in New Jersey followed by a comprehensive three-year residency in medical oncology at Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists in Texas.

As a board-certified oncologist, Dr. Turner returned to the east coast in 2005 to become the head of the oncology service at Fifth Avenue Veterinary Specialists, a prestigious referral practice in New York City. In March 2010 she relocated to Los Angeles, California to accept a position at one of the largest oncology practices in the world. Here she was the senior oncologist and primary investigator of multiple clinical trials.

Dr. Turner’s professional interests include lymphoma, clinical research, comparative oncology, chemotherapy, metronomic therapy, and palliative care. She also supports a combination approach to cancer care, utilizing both eastern and western principles. Dr. Turner’s primary focus is to provide the best possible care to pets with cancer. She believes in a bond-centered practice and delivers medical care along with compassion. Providing a good quality of life for her patients is her top priority. Dr. Turner feels strongly that the treatment for pet cancer should not be worse than the disease itself.

Dr. Turner lives with her long-haired dachshunds, Sookie! and Romo () as well as her two covid-adopted cats, Dill Pickle! and Gilligan () - In her free time, she enjoys exploring, wine tasting, traveling abroad, reading and yoga. Dr. Turner is also active with the non-profit organization CLEAR (Canine Lymphoma Education Awareness and Research.

We are so excited to have Dr. Turner join the VCSS team and hope you all enjoy getting to know her a bit more. 💚

Join us this Saturday, September 14th, for our annual Celebration of Life! 🐶

As we celebrate our 10th anniversary at VCSS, we want to turn our focus to all the pets we've loved, both past and present.

Stop by from 11:30am-1:30pm and create memorial crafts for your pet, bring a photo to add to our memory album, or spend a quiet moment in our Healing and Reflection Garden. Lunch and beverages will be provided and dogs on leash are welcome!

We look forward to seeing you and your loved ones to honor the pets that we've loved so deeply. 💚

Our new ezyVet software is officially LIVE! 🤩

Thank you so much to our trainers Annalise and Al for guiding us through this transition. It'll be a challenge, but with the help of our wonderful trainers and our dedicated staff, we're ready for it.

As you may know, beginning in mid-June we will be undergoing a software transition from Cornerstone to ezyVet! 🤩

Needless to say, this will be a huge change, but a positive one! We are so excited for the ability to better serve our clients and patients, and we thank you in advance for your patience. We'll continue sharing updates as we make our way through the training process, so stay tuned for more details!
