I don’t make posts like this but I really feel the need in this case to point out how amazing is. I got strep throat while at a conference I attended last week and I completely ignored the high fever and dealt with the pain for about a week. I figured it would clear up on its own, I was wrong. So I ended up in the ER last night after a Narc Sweep. I was hours from home. It was a hundred degrees out and there was no where to park in the shade. I hade K9 Kira with me so I hung out in the parking lot debating on whether I should just keep dealing with it because I couldn’t leave her in my truck. I fell asleep for about 45 minutes while debating it. I decided to try it. I hesitantly went to the front desk expecting to be told I couldn’t have my dog. At which point would assure I would be continuing to deal with it. She comes first. To my surprise they welcomed her with open arms. Fetched her ice water. Worked around her as she laid by my side and they worked on me and watched her during my ct scan. When I say I’m completely blown away by the treatment I received from it’s an understatement. As far as Kira goes she did an absolutely amazing job. I have only had her for two months now and have never put her in any type of situation like this. She got nervous when I was doing my ct and tried climbing up with me but listened very well to the tech. The way she worked yesterday and conducted herself at the ER; impressed is an understatement. It was truly a bonding experience for us both. To my treatment team, I really can’t thank you enough. I could be missing my leg and I would still contemplate if it was worth going to the doc for. You totally made my experience worth it. So, thank you!
Disclaimer: I did go to an urgent care a few days prior and was placed on (the wrong) antibiotics. I was told after 24 hours I wouldn’t be infectious. So I wasn’t out there trying to infect people.
