This is the last Coffee Cat Mug from my inventory. I haven't had time to make any new ones. The calico glazing is one of my favorites. Go bid on it (or something else) and help out some bitty kitties.

This wheel-thrown porcelain mug by Patty's Pottery looks like a cat perched in your cabinet when sitting upside-down, waiting to be used! In use, it balances on its ears and tail to support your favorite beverage or snack.

Practicing vases this morning. It’s bot a form I’ve super good at. I don’t make them because I’m not good at it, and I’m not good at it because I don’t practice. These are small and super heavy; much trimming will be needed in their future. But that’s ok.

New spaceman magnets fresh from the kiln. I just have to wait for my magnet order to arrive.

Some are darker than others because I was experimenting with a final black wash to darken the lines. I don’t like how muddy it made the colors, so I won’t be doing that again.

Do I have a kiln at home? Nope.

My home studio is tiny. It’s much smaller than the space I had at Fired Up Studios. It’s roughly 8’ x 8’ (give or take a few inches each direction). That’s smaller than the display tents you see at art fairs (usually 10’ x 10’). It’s a hobby space and not a production space.

I won’t be making enough work to fill my own kiln, and I have firing access at work. I load most of the glaze kilns at anyway.

And I won’t go into the problems of putting a kiln in my garage. It’s just not practical, especially when I’m just playing in the clay occasionally for fun.

Underglaze painting between loads of laundry today. Sadly, the Happy Space planet got dropped just as I was finishing it. So now I have a set of 5 magnets instead of 6.

It’s been a long time since I’ve had new pots to share. It feels good.

Photo commentary coming later when I can use my laptop instead of my phone. It took me all day to get these photos to just post.

Note for my pottery friends: All the pieces are made with Grolleg Porcelain from Continental Clay and were fired to cone 10 in an electric kiln at Fired Up Studios. Scroll through the photos for more details about the specific glazes used.

Saved a set of cookie cutter/stamps from the Snag It shelf at . Decided to test them out today. These will probably become magnets.

I glazed a few pots today. I'm excited for the next cone 10 firing at Fired Up Studios so I can see how they turn out. Just testing some glaze combinations; nothing fancy.

So nice to be finishing up a few mugs without having to leave the house. Best part is that if they had not been ready, I didn’t need to drive anywhere to fidnd out.

I set up a small studio space in the back porch. I miss making stuff, and I hope this gets my hands back into clay. This is the first time I have thrown pottery in almost 3 years. It's nice to see that I haven't forgotten everything.

I’m not planning on reopening Patty’s Pottery. I just want to enjoy making without the stress of selling and managing a small business. I get enough of that as the manager at Fired Up Studios, and it pays better than selling my own work ;)
