Join us at Mission Animal Hospital’s annual fundraising event, Raise the Woof! We are deeply passionate about Mission Animal Hospital’s work. This unique nonprofit animal hospital is dedicated to making veterinary care accessible for all families. They keep hundreds of Minnesota families together each year by saving the lives of beloved pets and preventing pets from being surrendered to shelters or rescues because of the high-costs of veterinary care.

This work is driven by the belief that pets are family, and everyone deserves the love of a pet in their life, regardless of financial circumstances. If you know how much pets bring to our lives, I’d love to have you join me at this special event! This is not only a great opportunity to learn more about Mission and the incredible work they do, but there’s going to be a large silent auction, games during the cocktail hour, and a really fun performance from local rescue dogs trained in disc and freestyle tricks. Doghouse Books, our little free library in front of Downtown Dogs, is almost out of books. If you have any dog-related books -- for adults or children -- that you're ready to say goodbye to, we'd love to put them into circulation in the library. Attend the "Tails & Treats" event on Wednesday, June 12, from 5-7 p.m. to learn more about Can Do Canines and their mission. Can Do Canines' volunteers help raise and train assistance dogs for people with disabilities. Happy 92nd Birthday Goofy!

This famous Disney dog first appeared on this date in 1932 as Dippy Dawg, in the cartoon short Mickey’s R***e. Here are a few Goofy facts:

The turtleneck and vest-wearing anthropomorphic dog was first voiced by the same individual as Sleepy and Grumpy in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

Other names Goofy has gone by over the years include George Geef, Goofus D. Dawg, G.G. Goof, Goofy G. Goof, and Super Goof.

Over Goofy’s 644 dog years, he’s been romantically linked to Clarabelle Cow, Glory-Bee, and Mrs. Goofy or Mrs. Geef, mother of Goofy’s son, Max.
