Hickory is 2-3 years old. He has been with us since early November. He originally came in with a skin condition so bad that he had scratched himself raw.

Hickory has gotten along very well with the other dogs in his foster home and has loved playing with other friends that he’s made while out and about.

Hickory is the ultimate goofball! From his silly little smile to his tippy tappy toes, Hickory is a kooky little guy through and through. Hicks is a big fan of any sort of play and loves throwing his stuffy toys through the air and chasing after them. He is also a HUGE fan of making snow angels and chasing his friends through the yard. I wouldn’t say that Hickory is a low-energy dog, but as long as he gets a bit of exercise and mental stimulation every day, Hickory is a pretty chill guy.

If you see something say something. It’s a guarantee that animals will freeze to death in these temps. Be their voice!

Temps could plummet to -30° wind chills through Friday morning—life-threatening for both humans and animals. Frostbite can happen in under 30 minutes! ❄️

🔥 Keep your pets safe with these cold-weather tips:
🏡 Bring them inside – No pet should be left outdoors in extreme cold. Even outdoor animals need warm, insulated shelter. If you need help, reach out!
🚶‍♂️ Limit outdoor time – Quick potty breaks only! If it’s too cold for you, it’s too cold for them.
🧥 Layer up – Short-haired dogs can benefit from a coat or sweater for extra warmth.
🐾 Protect their paws – Ice, salt, and frostbite are serious risks. Wipe their paws and check for cracks or irritation after walks.
🚗 Check under your car – Stray cats often seek warmth near engines. Give your hood a knock before starting your vehicle.
☠️ Use pet-safe antifreeze – Standard antifreeze is highly toxic to pets.

📢 If you see a pet left outside in extreme conditions, take action! Contact local authorities or an animal welfare organization for assistance.

Bolt is a 6-year-old Husky with a big personality and an even bigger heart! Like any true Husky, he’s stubborn, smart, and full of energy, but that’s all part of his charm. If you know Huskies, you know that stubbornness just means he’s got a fun-loving, independent spirit!

Bolt is a sweet, affectionate, and gentle guy who loves people and other dogs—but let’s be real, he thinks cats are for chasing. He has a classic Husky singing voice and will happily serenade you with his howls and chatter. If you’ve ever wanted a dog who will “talk” back, Bolt is your guy!

What Bolt Loves:

Before vs after

Dawna came in to us in absolutely horrific condition. She was being bred, but was skin and bones, with hardly a hair on her body. She languished in her cage, in so much pain, and alone. It is amazing how much better she looks already. Just a little flea treatment and food, and she’s like a new dog! She has become very fond of people, and will solicit attention from you as much as you let her. She is learning basic commands, and is learning about meeting other dogs as well. Her adoption fee has been sponsored, so all she needs now if a hero! Who is able to give this an=mazing dog a soft spot to land?

All dogs are spayed or neutered, microchipped, Heartworm tested (6 months and above,) and current on vaccinations and preventions prior to adoption. At the time of adoption all dogs are signed up with a unique Safe Paws QR pet ID tag, the adopter is required to maintain a monthly membership of $2.99/month for (at minimum) the first year. This helps insure your new furry family member makes his way back to you if lost. Leashes and collars are also required at the time of adoption. You are welcome to bring your own, or we have plenty to choose from at the shelter as well. If the pet you fall in love with is not quite ready for adoption, we do offer a $50 hold deposit that will insure you have first “dibs on adoption. Once an animal is available for adoption, we are not able to hold them, as there are so many animals waiting to come into our program.

Our shelter is located at 10312 East 63rd Street in Raytown, MO. We are open to meet pets Tuesday through Friday from 10-6, and on Saturday and Sunday from 10-5. We are closed on Mondays. You are welcome to fill out our quick 10 question adoption survey to facilitate a quicker process. This will also start the meeting process for those animals in foster care

Belly is a gentle girl with lots of love to give. She is very sweet and enjoys pets from everyone she meets. Belly loves a comfortable place to lay.

Meet Victoria ❤️ she’s a cat we have featured before, and don’t mind her being introverted right now because she has a bit of a cold, she’s usually extremely affectionate and cuddly with her person.
