Chicken spotlight!

This is PIG!

She’s our first and only “bred by” chicken. We don’t keep our own hatches because of how small our farm is. We believe it’s important to diversify our bloodlines. She’s a product of Ham and BBQ. Shes a Red Pyle silkie and just over a year old. We just love her! 💜

First hatch started for the year!!!

A couple changes to the farm- we will eventually be getting out of silkies in favor of a hardier bantam breed. We’re not rehoming our current flock, they’ll just age out and retire here. Until then, we will still be hatching chicks and selling hatching eggs when available. We only have 5 hens and a rooster so they’ll be limited.

We’re focusing on building our Millie Fleur colored Belgian d’Uccle flock. We’re in the market for more hens and currently only have three. Our new rooster, Johnny Cash is young but trying his best. It’s unclear what we’ll be able to offer from this flock this year. We’ll continue to test fertility but feel that the majority of these eggs won’t be fertilized until next year but here’s hoping!

We still have our standard flock and will continue to offer large eggs for eating or hatching. The flock consists of various breeds with a silkie rooster, so be warned… if you hatch eggs from this pen they will be funky but probably also cute

Chicken Spotlight!

This is Cinder. So named because her feathers seemed burnt after she hatched. It was the oddest thing. We have no idea what breed she is but was raised with our French Black Copper Marans, so she considers herself one of them! Even though she’s WAYY smaller and has cheeks 😍

Many of you may recall seeing our girl, Noodle (pictured last). We’re often told she’s the most beautiful bird we have, but her breed, the Mille Fleur Belgian D’uccle, is often hard to find in these parts. Well, today we purchased a year old breeding pair, which brings us a step closer to our dream of creating a breeding program with these guys (Noodle included)

Not only are they absolutely stunning, but they are also a spicy breed with lots of sass and attitude so we think their new names are fitting. Everyone, meet Rowdy and Dolly
