‼️FOR SALE‼️
Black Jack (aka Jack) is a 10 year old draft cross. Jack is currently schooling BN level jumps, and he has lovely up hill movement in the dressage. He has potential for novice level eventing with the right person. He has AMAZING ground manners and stall manners around all adults and most kids.
Don’t want to do English, he has also done well in the ranch and working cow horse arena. Jack has potential to go in any direction his owner wants. Please take note that Jack is not for a beginner rider and does require an experienced hand in most phases of riding. He is currently being shown by an advanced, confident, youth rider who has been riding him for several months.

Videos available at buyers request. PM for more info.

Had a great time at the Rebel Hearts Open Horse Show Series this weekend. Sassy was a fire breathing dragon for English but had some lovely ranch rides. She was fabulous in speed events with beautiful runs.

Strider was a good boy for Lexi. They had some lovely English and western rides. We need to work on some lateral control for pattern classes for them.

The Eqcel Equine LLC team had a good day.

Useful insight into horse show nerves.

Useful insight into horse show nerves.

Dealing with nerves is an often talked about topic. I find the majority of show nerves come from our desire to be competitive. We show because we like to win.

But when we compete, the only person we truly compete against is ourselves. Our goal with competing is to be better than the time before. When we make the competition about ourselves and not other people it can to relax the nerves.

Our goal with showing is to do the best by ourselves and the best by our horses, as tempting as that blue ribbon is. The majority of nerves comes from fear. Each rider fears different things but we can manage our fears, and therefore manage our nerves, if we stop making it about perfection and make it about improvement.

Hanna made the decision to do more than just barrels with her barrel horse. This made me super proud as I encourage my students to do more than just one discipline with their horses. Doing more with your horse makes the horse and yourself better rounded and more capable of even a simple trail ride.
This mare is not an easy horse to ride so Hanna has to work harder sometimes but her hard work is paying off nicely!

So proud of my student Sara! A little over a year ago she was having to start from scratch and a couple months ago she was nervous about cantering and now she’s comfortable cantering and she’s started doing small jumps on a multitude of horses! Sara has worked so hard to get here and it shows! We still have a lot to improve on but small steps forward is still moving forward. I can’t wait to see where the future takes her!

Always pat your pony❤️

No matter if they did their best or their worst always reward the try. Horses are like people, they’re not perfect but they try. They have good and bad days like us and they’re going to mess up eventually.

Pat your pony and reward them because every days a learning experience. We seem to have this expectation that animals are perfect and don’t make mistakes, but this isn’t true. Horses have emotions too. They sense when we’re sad, having a bad day, and even when we’re happy.

Always pat your pony. You may be having a bad day which causes your horse to have a bad day. It’s not always the horse that’s having a bad day. Horses feed off of riders and if you’re having a good day than they horse will give you a better ride than if you’re having a bad day.

Always pat your pony.

You see so many riders now that blame the horse and don’t praise them for even the smallest things. Some people only praise their horses if they win something, others praise theirs only on the good days. Almost everyone’s guilty of this at some point and time and that’s the truth. I’m guilty of it and work to improve.

A couple years ago I would come out of the show ring and if I felt like my horse gave me a bad ride I wasn’t happy at all, now I come out and look for what did go well and what we could work to improve on for the next show. We all want to win in the ring but the only way to get there is to work for progress not perfection.
If you’re horse is trying to run away with you in the warm up, when you go in the show ring just work for a controlled round and don’t worry about everything else. Then next time work to improve on the other stuff.

Always pat your pony.
