These happy faces just have to stop your scrolling. 🐶🐶
Bo (female 1 1/2) and Bandit (male 6 months) are twins from different litters rescued from deplorable living conditions and their faces say just how happy they are about that! 😄😄 They never stop smiling!
Bo & Bandit are good with everything and there’s no reason they should still be here.
If you’re not into perpetual happiness, excessive kisses and a sudden urge to become a professional belly rubber then they’re not for you. 😆
Your furniture may never be the same (but who needs nice furniture anyway?).
Open at noon Saturday, Sunday & Monday!

How adorable is little Neo? 🥰
Neo came to us as the victim of a cruelty case with his friend, who has been adopted.
How pitiful it is to be labeled “evidence” and have to be held hostage at the shelter while your abuser awaits their day in court. 😔
The silver lining is we have finally been given custody of Neo and he can now move on to his next and final chapter. 🏡
Neo is 5 years old, playful, good with dogs, will probably pester cats and is a Miniature Husky mix at a petite 35lbs.
Who will be his lucky human(s)?! 🐾

We received $2,400 and an abundance of donations from the 3rd Annual "Jam for Joe" Golf Tournament in Memory of Joe LaValla at the Little Falls Municipal Golf Course.
Joe had a love for golf, music and animals..especially his pups Teddy and Cody. 🐶🐶
Thank you to Nick Regan, Linda LaValla, Tony George, all volunteers and participants for another successful fundraiser to remember a great man who was loved by many.
Please know how incredibly grateful we are to be chosen as your charity and look forward to next year’s event!

💖6,162 DAYS OF SERVICE💖

Michelle, the feisty feline queen of our shelter, has left us while wrapped in the devoted arms of our very own Joanne, who loved her the longest.

Michelle’s first 3 years are a mystery, her journey leading her to the humane society in 2008.
Michelle became a permanent resident of HCHS following multiple returns by adopters due to her propensity to ti**le on any soft landing.
For years, this sassy feline ruled the office greeting guests and charming staff with her irresistible fondness for snagging human snacks.
Her love for pilfering lunches was legendary and her taste buds were as discerning as they were adventurous.

But Michelle’s true calling was as our top cat-test dog compatibility evaluator. With a flick of her tail and a sniff of disdain, she'd determine whether a canine companion was worthy of cat-friendly certification. Her judicious nature helped countless dogs find forever homes with cat-loving families.

Michelle will be deeply missed by her human colleagues and furry friends. Her memory lives on when you pay our shelter a visit with her familiar face forever displayed on our welcome sign and the legacy of her good work placing dogs in loving homes that she deemed cat-approved.

Tonight, we fall asleep with Michelle in our hearts as she forever rests in peace.
Godspeed Michelle, may your future nugget supply be forever plentiful.

In lieu of flowers, Michelle has requested donations to her favorite charity, HCHS, the place she called home. 🏡

⭐️4️⃣⭐️ Time adopters! We love seeing this family coming. Back the car up! 🐶🐶🐶🐶

I hope open hearts come soon! It's the best decision we ever made. I wish I could afford more. It's so nice to come home to someone who loves you and welcomes you no matter how your day went! All our dogs are rescues from Herkimer County Humane Society.❤️

Centaur!
Words written by his adopters on a post we made regarding the trauma and confusion made by uncommitted adopters. Thanks for Centaurs family!

Adopters need to remember everything brought up in this post. Every dog is on its best behavior that first month or two. Once they become comfortable they start to ease up and show you their true self. It takes patience and sometimes a new routine. You can’t just expect a perfect addition without putting in the work. We’ve had Ripley, formerly centaur for 4 months and it’s a lot of work and constant training but it’s worth it!

Dallas!
You will all remember Dallas, adopted from us as a puppy and banished to live in the garage of a relative until he was 4 years old before being returned because the cute puppy stage wore off. Dallas was with us for bit because he was slow to trust and lived in devastating isolation.
Look at him now! We are THANKFUL for his adopters!

Davos (formerly Dallas) that we adopted from HCHS has grown iinto being the best boy ever. Dogs truly do make a huge difference in our lives. Adopting from there was the best decision ever. You’ll have an amazing friend and family member.

Casper 💙
update in his adopters words. Thankful for all who are committed. 💞

This is Casper, my fiancé and I wanted a dog and she wanted our first dog to be a rescue. Neither of us have ever owned a rescue nor knew what that entailed. We hit it off with Casper right off the bat on Day 1 and took him home the same day we visited in October of 2024 from the Herkimer County Humane Society The first week was rough while he adjusted to a new setting and steadily improved with time. Within the first few months, we encountered some territorial issues with Casper as he began to test his boundaries. Did we give up? No. He was worth the fight, I contacted staff from the Humane Society for guidance and got him into some training classes and some in home training and got him where he needed to be. We’re at 9 months, almost 10 of having Casper and he has been the best friend we needed and the best thing to happen to us in a long time. He is spoiled and loved on a daily basis and gives it back two fold. I couldn’t imagine my life without Casper and wouldn’t want it any other way. These dogs come from the worst possible situations and require patience and some work to help them grow and break the anxiety and fear that they have encountered prior to being adopted. But they’re beyond worth it and I’m thankful everyday that we decided to visit last October because now I get to spend everyday with my best friend. This picture is Casper’s introduction to doggy day care that he attends weekly to spend time with his new friends!
