Putting out another plea for food and monetary donations. It's been nearly a month since the original post, and we even paid to boost it during that time. Only 6 people have donated so far. It's incredibly discouraging! Adoptions are at an all time low, as are donations. We realize that everyone is excited and making plans for summer, vacationing, having fun, and probably not giving a whole lot of thought to rescue's right now. But, we are still here, still struggling, and still in need. In order to care for the animals already here and continue our mission, we need your support. We'll keep putting in the hard work, we just need financial support. Please donate and please share.

Can anyone donate pet food? Our Amazon Wish List is below. Or, if anyone donates money, we can look for clearance sales at local pet stores, TSC, etc., and really stock up.

If we could get support with regular weekly or monthly sponsors/deliveries, that would take a huge load off! So much of our income (both rescue and personal) goes towards pet food, and it would free that up to go towards other expenses like spays, neuters, vet bills, flea
/tick meds, repairs, grooming, etc.

Folks can donate the following ways:

We've had 4 people make donations since this was posted nearly 3 weeks ago. While we are grateful, it's just a drop in the bucket of what we need. We have exhausted all of our personal funds - again - to make sure everyone is fed and cared for. I hate to beg or sound like a broken record, but we can't continue at this rate. Please donate and share this post.

Update: Friday A.M.
Matt's best childhood friend is going to drive 4 hours to pick C.J. up on Saturday and foster him for a week or so until we can get him.
Thank you so, so much to everyone who was willing to lend a hand to help us! We are grateful! I'll update again soon.

We need to get a 7 m.o. yorkie from a shelter in Cu***ng, Georgia, to Maryland. He's located at Forsyth County Pet Resource Center. They will not allow him to come to Maryland on any of the regular, commercial or private shippers that we would normally use to bring dogs up.

Are any of our followers in that area? Can we arrange a transport chain?

A bit of back story: My 34 y.o. son wants him. He was his father's beloved dog. Mark passed away in his sleep unexpectedly, and C.J. was locked in his crate for at least 3 days before it was discovered. The police called animal contol, and they took him to a local shelter to be cared for. The staff has been great, but they can't hold him indefinitely.

Can anyone help bring C.J. to Maryland to help mend Matt's heart?

Sorry for the delayed update. I was planning on posting when we got home, but I got really sick with a high fever, achiness, headache, etc. during the drive. I'm just now feeling well enough to post this.

Unfortunately, I was right about Charlie's tumor being a squamous cell carcinoma. (Well, they are almost certain that it was. It presented as one in every way, but the only way to know 100%, is to send out samples for biopsy.) Since radiographs showed that his tumor wrapped around his ear, to his eye and down his cheek, it wasn't operable. I couldn't justify paying for biopsies just so we knew what type of tumor it was. Surgery couldn't save him, and that money could be better spent on helping other pets.

Charlie was a good boy until the very end. The vets were so impressed with him and said that the exams and tests on any other pig would have had them freaking out.

We sat with him and gave him every snack we could find in the car, plus some mints that Dr. Louie gave us for him. He was still a bit sedated but a true pig and happily ate everything. He got lots of love and snuggles before he was humanely euthanized.

Thank you to New Bolton Center and their compassionate team. I don't know the total for yesterday yet, as they will be emailing an invoice in the next day or two. I wish that I had better news. Thanks to those who have supported us.

We're here at New Bolton with Charlie pig. We've been waiting for an update for a couple of hours.

He was such a good boy this morning! We made him a harness last night out of macrame yarn. All of the harnesses I have slip over the head, and I didn't want to bump and irritate his growth. He hasn't worn a harness in several years, but you'd never know it! He acted like he's worn one every day, and walked on a leash like a champ! He was perfect for the car ride here, snuggled in his blankets!

I sure hope that they can help him, but I'm very nervous about the bill. We've only had 3 donations come in for him so far. (Thank you, Rebecca, the Ritter's, and Melissa!).

I'll keep everyone updated as soon as I know something.

Charlie pig has an appointment at New Bolton Center this Wednesday, the 7th. It's the soonest we could get him in. Not many vets treat mini pigs, and for those in our area that do, they only do routine spays/neuters and will refer to New Bolton for complex issues.

They will access his tumor (?), possibly biopsy it, and determine if it is operable. It has changed rapidly and looks horrible! It bleeds easily. We are still cleaning it everyday, and keeping him comfortable with pain meds, abx, and sucralfate to prevent a stomach ulcer. He is such a good patient, despite his pain. He's a fine pig. :)

Please keep him in your prayers. And, please donate if you can. We have no funds in the rescue account and we are really stressing about how we are going to help him. We scheduled his appointment last week with faith that our supporters will donate to help him. Whether his tumor is operable or we have to make the hard call to euthanize him, he needs to be seen. We can't let him suffer. Please help if you can.

Our Charlie pig is in urgent need of vet care. We were treating what we initially thought was an abscess, but the lump has changed drastically in the past week. It is very worrisome, as the growth bleeds a great deal when bumped or touched. I hate to say it, but it now looks like a squamous cell tumor. We're cleaning him up daily, giving him abx, and pain meds. And, lots of extra treats!

We are waiting for the folks at New Bolton Center to come up with a game plan and assemble a team for his care. We'll transport him there for treatment as soon as they give the word.

Please donate if you can to help him! He's really a good boy, and is so bonded to his sister, Darla. He's been the best patient for us, letting us clean him up even though his growth is very painful. He loves car rides and snuggling in blankets, he sits nicely for treats, and is perfect for The Hoof Fairy.

And, please donate for needed food and provisions for the other pets at Hodgepodge. The cupboards are bare again. REALLY bare! I can't keep footing the bill, as I've already exhausted all of my personal funds on the rescue this month. How did it get to be this bad?!

Thanks, and please share!
