Our on-farm petting zoo is closed for the season. We reopen Spring 2024 with baby animals.
Just another morning of milking chaos 😅 We're currently milking 10 girls once a day (down from twice a day). They know the drill: run up to the barn, get some grain, then wait tied until it's their turn on the milk stand for even more grain. I'm pretty sure they think it's the best part of their day 😍

She's 4.5 months old, leads, ties, picks up her feet and had her first farrier appointment. She's smart, extroverted and loves a good scritch.
Here's she's getting used to a saddle pad. Even though she's had one on before, she decided this time that it was novel 😂

Raising livestock is not for the feint of heart. Most days are average - taking care of animals and laughing at their quirks. Some days are full of wonder sharing in the miracle of birth. Other days are truly heartbreaking. This video was taken at the end of an incredibly heartbreaking day where I lost a sheep and her unborn lamb. I sat down in this stall of goats and kids to simply breath for a moment and they made it clear that they were on a mission to cheer me up.
