Oblaka Sobaka Becker
Monroe Clinic Hospice dog
Oblaka Sobaka Becker (Ob), Siberian husky, was born March 17, 2010, and passed over the Rainbow Bridge on November 11, 2022. Oblaka was first the cherished canine of Jacob Becker, Schenectady, NY, but in 2012 Oblaka moved to Juda, WI to reside with his new human, Kim Becker, and her parents, Marvin and Darlene Becker. Oblaka moved to Monroe with his human mom, Kim, in 2013. While Oblaka lived with his human grandmother, she noticed how even-tempered he was, and because Monroe Clinic Hospice had lost a couple of their beloved Hospice dogs at that time, she asked and received the information on how Oblaka could become a Hospice dog. Oblaka completed his training and was certified as a Hospice Dog in August of 2013. Oblaka loved being a hospice dog. When his hospice vest was put on, he would run to the door and look back at his human grandma as if to say, “Hurry up, what is taking you so long!” He would not only visit his hospice patients that were assigned to him, but he was a favorite at an Assisted Living facility in Monroe for several years, and worked as a reading dog for five years at Monticello Schools. His humans tried to retire him when he was 9 because they noticed he was getting arthritic and moving rather slowly, but he was needed for a hospice patient who loved huskies so he worked faithfully until he finally retired at age 10. After retirement Oblaka enjoyed relaxing at home with his stuffed toys, going to the dog park in Monroe with his mom, or playing with his special canine friend, Sally Becker. Oblaka was loved by all who met him and will be greatly missed.
