When offering cat grass to your cat, monitor to make sure too much isn't consumed at once. The fiber in grass can be a wonderful aid in reducing hairballs but too much at once isn't a good thing. If your cat periodically munches on the cat grass then you can leave it out for extended periods. However, if your cat tends to consume too much at once, bring out the grass for supervised munching or snip a few blades to mix into food.
If your cat is attracted to chewing on houseplants, offering cat grass can be a safe alternative. It's best to keep all houseplants out of reach because almost all are toxic to cats.
