Words to live by if you show a dog:

Tips:
1) You won't win every show, so understand how to lose well.
2) You won't agree with the judge on every placement or winner, but learn that he/she hands out the ribbons, not you.
3) Best of Breed/Winners/etc. Saturday is not Best of Breed/Winners/etc. Sunday unless the Sunday judge agrees.
4) No matter how good you are or how good your dog is, one of you will invariably blow something in the ring. And sometimes it IS pretty funny. Laugh it off.
5) Majors are hard to find and harder to win.
6) If you aren't enjoying your time in the ring, neither will your dog.
7) Understand your goal in the ring. Sometimes, your goal is to stay upright while doing a down and back in the wet, muddy outdoor ring. And if you fall down and your dog stands on top of you, laugh it off.
😎 Find your calmness in the ring. Nervous handler makes a nervous dog.
9) Help your fellow competitors. Sometime, they'll help you when you need it. Or not.
10) Sportsmanship above all. Make your dog look his best and he'll win. Running up on someone, dropping bait in the ring, etc. is avoidable.
