Thank you to everyone who donated through our puppy name contest! Thanks to your efforts, we were able to raise an incredible $1,737. And if I can get a drumroll, please...the winning names were Chilly and Pepper! Chilly, the boy, is named for his beautiful Arctic coat, and Pepper, the girl, is named for her love of mischief.

Proceeds from the contest will go towards our ongoing project of building our new 10,000 square foot enclosure. Thanks so much to everyone who helped out!

One of the best ways to socialize wolfdog puppies is by giving them a friendly mentor, and we struck gold with our new intake, Bane! Now called Uncle Bane by everyone, Bane immediately fell in love with the puppies and is showing them that people = awesome treats and attention.

And we get to watch WWF Smackdown every day, so really, everyone is a winner. 🤼

Now introducing our other new intake, Bane! Bane hails from Topeka, Kansas and since arriving at TWP, he's demonstrated that he's the very definition of a "velcro dog." He wants nothing more than to be leaning against you, soaking up affection. He's polite on a leash, too, and one of the few dogs we've received who would probably be even happier as an only dog. Bane will need a secure backyard fence, but aside from that, he's 100% ready to be someone's good boy.

While it's been a rough few months between hurricane damage and losing our sweet Luna, our team has been on the road picking up several new woofers that we're thrilled to introduce!

We are super excited to introduce our two newest, youngest intakes, puppies! These two cuties came from an accidental litter, and their owner wanted to be sure they were safely placed somewhere they would not become breeding stock.

Stayed tuned for our upcoming naming fundraiser for these cutie mcbooties.

Please note, we know there will be LOTS of interest in these babies, however new animals are not listed for potential adoption until they are fully vetted and we have gotten to know them. These puppies are high contents and anyone interested in them should visit our website and review our adoption requirements for high content wolfdogs.

We will have another introduction as soon as we can get him to stay still for a picture ♥️

Thank you to everyone who donated and shared for Luna's ice cream snacks in her last days. Our little lady, our teddy bear, passed quietly this afternoon, surrounded by love and with her life mate, Nanook, at her side.

We are incredibly grateful for all of the time we got to spoil her. Luna and Nanook are some of our longest term residents, having lived with us for 7 years. While we always hoped that the right home would come along, someone who wanted two old, low content woofs on their sofas, we got to keep and love them ourselves.

Fly free, Luna-loons, Looney-Tunes, teddy bear. You can always run in front, now.

The worst of Hurricane Beryl is passing us, but thankfully, our crew of volunteers was on hand to immediately jump into action when a tree took down an enclosure fence! 😲😲😲

We often get asked what happens if a woofer gets loose, and the answer is - nothing! Our entire property is surrounded by 8 foot perimeter fencing with buried dig guards, so everyone is still safe and contained, even in emergencies like this. The little jail breakers in this pen were excited to see their leashes and happily came right up.

We're so grateful for our awesome volunteers!

Thank you to everyone checking in on us ahead of Hurricane Beryl! We're battening down hatches and the woofs are looking forward to some much needed cooler weather.

We are crushed to share that one of our leading senior ladies, Luna, has been diagnosed with a brain tumor. She will be leaving behind her devoted mate, Nanook, in a short while, but will be spending that time surrounded by love.

Nanook and Luna came to us 9 years ago and have lived here ever since. Facing euthanasia in a county where they were illegal just for being born, they hit the rescue jackpot as we had two spaces open at once - a rarity in wolfdog rescue.

While we always hoped the right home would come along and these two lovebirds could be adopted together, we are so grateful we got to care for them and give them all the love they deserved.

If you would like to donate in Luna's honor, we are thankful for any gifts or shares. If you met this lovely, shy lady, please share your pictures and experiences with us.

Our sweet low content Lyra is another TWP veteran who's been looking for a forever home for far too long. Arriving at the shelter when she was only six months old, Lyra has been demanding attention from our volunteers for the last five and a half years. Walk up to her enclosure and she'll immediately be hopping with happiness in anticipation of scritches, belly rubs, and maybe a little light wrestling. While she's brought a lot of joy into our lives, we think it's high time for our good girl to find a home of her own. 🩷

Lyra enjoys having a male penmate with a balanced temperament. She's not the Queen of Her Domain that Harper can be, but she's no push-over, either. Having never lived indoors, she might be best suited to an outdoor enclosure. Luckily, she's not much of an escape artist, although she does love designing elaborate dens.

Think you might be the right home for sweet Lyra? Our adoption policy can be found here: https://texaswolfdogproject.org/our-dogs/adoption-policy

Can't adopt right now, but still want to support us? You can sponsor Lyra here: https://texaswolfdogproject.org/support/sponsorship

Looking for an easygoing pup who soaks up attention and appreciates being indoors? Nyko might be the boy for you!

Nyko spent the first four years of his life as an indoor/outdoor dog, and was raised very well by his first owner; he's a gentle, social, and friendly boy. For his next home, we'd like to see him back in another indoor/outdoor setting, where he can enjoy the A/C and time with his human family. Nyko is also used to having a female canine companion and will develop separation anxiety if left completely alone, so he's not a good fit for potential adopters who want a single dog. For any currently single lady dogs out there, on the other hand - if you like long walks, treat-o's, and scent rubbing on people, it might be a match. 🐾❤️ Just have your owner call Texas Wolfdog Project and ask for that handsome 5-year-old low content boy, Nyko.

Interested in adopting Nyko? Our adoption policy can be found here: https://texaswolfdogproject.org/our-dogs/adoption-policy

Can't adopt, but still want to support us? You can sponsor Nyko here: https://texaswolfdogproject.org/support/sponsorship

For this , it's time for another tour favorite: Osa!

Osa may be missing a leg, but she hasn't lost an ounce of her sparkle. This mid-content girl is friends with everyone she meets, men, women, and children. She'll sidle up to strangers and volunteers alike, asking for more scritches and belly rubs with her signature happy grumbles and "wookie noises." A perfect home for Osa is one where she can spend time alongside her human family as an indoor/outdoor pet - she's gotten a bit spoiled when it comes to having access to air conditioning. A male canine companion and a secure backyard fence are a must, too. Believe it or not, Miss Osa can still be something of an escape artist; she may be missing a leg, but she's more than clever enough to make up for it.

While we know not everyone is going to be lining up to adopt a senior dog - Osa is ten years old - Osa is one of the most social dogs on our property, and one of the rare mid-content dogs who would be a great match for a first-time wolfdog owner. If you're looking to adopt, don't pass over this pretty girl. She still has a lot of love to give to the right person.

Interested in Osa? Our adoption policy can be found here: https://texaswolfdogproject.org/our-dogs/adoption-policy

Can't adopt, but still want to support us? You can sponsor Osa here: https://texaswolfdogproject.org/support/sponsorship

Thank you to everyone who checked on us in the wake of yesterday's intense storm in Houston ♥️

We are thankfully safe and the woofs were completely unbothered - they insisted on dinner despite the downpour!

Our thoughts are with all of those affected by the storms and hope power can be restored quickly.

We are devastated to share the passing of a Texas Wolfdog legend, our beloved Two Socks. Our Socks Socks's wild, stubborn heart stopped during surgery, and despite the efforts of our wonderful vet and staff, he could not be brought back.

Our Socks was one of a kind. His hazel eyes were always bright with mischief and fierce independence - our volunteers can recount endless stories of being outfoxed by The Socks, from him rampaging in the gift shop to him stealing whatever caught his eye (RIP several cellphones). His infamous "Socks Walks" live on, keeping volunteers on their toes wondering if a woofer will roll in poo or maybe try to eat some roadkill.

Two Socks had the heart of a true wolf, living on his own terms and never allowing himself to be forced into anything. His independence made his affection all the sweeter for his favorite volunteers, and he is deeply grieved.

Two Socks passed the night that the Northern Lights stretched all the way down here to Texas. We know it was here to take our Socks on one last walk.

Run free over the rainbow bridge, Socks. You are so loved.

After a recent Board vote, we're pleased to announce that our new official ambassador is...Dakota!

If you've ever visited TWP, you know how sweet our extra-social, extra-good girl is. Dakota is Queen of the Tummy Rubs, friend to everyone she meets, and so keen on human affection that she'll even pass up treats in favor of some pets and scritches.

To raise funds for our new enclosure and save even more wolfdogs, we've DNA tested Dakota so we can play our fan-favorite guessing game. For a $10 donation, post your guess below of what you think Dakota's wolf content will be in the form of a percentage (for example, 99.9%). We'll reveal the results in a couple of weeks and the winner will be sent a TWP t-shirt of their choice!
