🎆 The Fourth of July can be a tough one for our furry friends! Here are some tips to keep your dogs happy and safe during the upcoming Holiday:
1️⃣ Make sure to give your pets plenty of activity before fireworks begin. A tired dog is a happy dog! 🐶
2️⃣ Provide a safe place for your pets to retreat and relax.
3️⃣ Make sure your pet has a proper collar and ID tag.
4️⃣ Keep pets indoors, lower blinds and close the windows.

💡TUESDAY TIP: The more you know…
• Paw burns can cause injury to the bottom of your pup’s feet, known as the paw pads, and these injuries can range from mild to severe. Preventing dog paw burns is important because the paw pads protect a dog’s feet and support their daily activities, such as walking, running, and jumping. Even on warm days, pavements can become hot enough to burn a dog’s paws. 🐾 🥵

There are many reasons to train a dog on a treadmill. We use this tool to reduce boredom, build confidence, increase stamina, decrease anxiety as well as increase fitness levels, build muscle tone and strength in rehabilitation to promote a healthy lifestyle.
Dogs require daily physical and mental exercise to maintain a healthy lifestyle. As regular exercise, a dog may use the treadmill on a daily basis for 5 to 20 minutes, depending on the dog’s endurance level. If your dog has a weak body component, we would plan to focus on strengthening that area with an incline or decline.
Providing your dog with regular exercise can lead to better behavior. Remember, a tired dog is a happy dog. 🐾

• We believe that all dogs deserve training and a responsible owner, and our goal is to reward responsible dog ownership.
• The AKC’s Canine Good Citizen Program is designed to recognize dogs who have good manners at home and in the community. This rapidly growing nationally recognized program stresses responsible dog ownership for owners and basic training and good manners for dogs.
• The American Kennel Club’s Canine Good Citizen test (CGC) is a certification program that evaluates dogs in simulated everyday situations in a relaxed, noncompetitive atmosphere.
• Dogs that pass the CGC test are considered reliable family and community members and will receive a certificate from the American Kennel Club.
🗓️ Our next course is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, June 26th, 2024 and will run weekly through Wednesday, July 31st, 2024 at our Moorestown training location.
🔝Space will be limited to 12 participants. To reserve a place in this program, you must be registered by Wednesday, June 19th, 2024.

4-year-old Golden Retriever Daisy is so sweet and affectionate, gets along well with all humans and dogs, despite having a very tough life. Until now, she spent every moment in a kennel, bred for profit at a local puppy mill. Thankfully, she is now at Rylie's Rescue, getting used to regular dog activities, like walks and playing, and awaiting the perfect forever family. From the 1920’s and 1940’s when Trick dogs such as Rin Tin Tin and Lassie won people’s hearts, trick dog training has become one of the most exciting new areas in dog training today. AKC trick dog titles are official AKC titles listed on the dog’s title record. Alpha & Omega Working Dogs came into being twelve years ago. It was a natural process, borne from our founder's love for dogs, as well as his incredible affinity with them.
Our Founder: Sergeant Ray Harris is an 8-year Veteran with the Delaware State Department of Corrections. His career in law enforcement regularly exposed him to working dogs, and he discovered a passion for breeding, training, and competing. He is a member of Shutzhund USA, the premier club for German Shepherd trainers, as well as The National Working Dog Association.
Competitions: Ray has been competing since 2005, and has won awards in K9 sports up and down the east coast. In 2015, he became a certified decoy for Schutzhund, allowing him to decoy for club trials across the USA. He has performed in that capacity in seven states and counting.
Police Dogs: As of 2017, Ray has also expanded into developing Police K-9 units with several local Law Enforcement entities. He became a member of the USPCA to help police working dogs certify and compete in K-9 trials regionally.

Keep Moving Forward: In the future, Ray intends to represent the United States in working dog competitions internationally, to further develop and refine his work with K-9, and to expand into other working dog areas. To that end, Alpha & Omega staff are all involved in ongoing education and training programs to better serve our furry friends and their humans.
