Nairah was here recently, prepped and ready for her spay and gastropexy with Dr. Sweitzer. Our doctors always recommend gastropexy's for deep chested breeds such as Standard Poodles, Great Danes, German Shepherds, and more. A gastropexy is a surgical procedure that helps prevent a potentially life-threatening condition called gastric dilation volvulus (GDV) or 'bloat.'

We are continuously committed to preventative care, ensuring pets like Nairah live longer, healthier lives by taking proactive steps now to prevent issues later on.

Last month, two of our patients Champ and Havana had an unfortunate run-in with a rattlesnake on their own property. Both were bitten, but Champ unfortunately got the worse of it than his housemate Havana. Havana, thankfully, bounced back quickly but Champ needed extensive treatment, including antivenom injections and days of pain management, laser treatment, and oxygen therapy. Today, both are doing much better, thanks to their owners' love and quick action. Their story is yet another reminder for all of us to stay vigilant, especially during rattlesnake season.

Saphira was diagnosed with Diabetes Mellitus in April 2022. She faced the challenge head-on, supported by her owner, Rachel. After achieving remission in February 2023, Saphira encountered another setback by December 2023. However, with the introduction of Bexacat, a once-a-day tablet, managing her condition became easier. This treatment not only reduced the hassle of twice-daily injections but also minimized the risk of hypoglycemia and eliminated the need for dosage changes during treatment. Saphira's story is a testament to the bond between pets and their owners, as well as the power of perseverance and advancements in veterinary medicine.
