Did you know that 40% of dogs suffer from separation anxiety?? One way to help calm their anxiety is to leave a piece of recently worn clothing behind with your scent on it. They will feel that you are near even if you’re far away 🥰
I recently tried that with this little guy as I knew I’d have to check on other dogs and work long hours and didn’t want him to think he would be alone forever so I left him a pair of some old pants that I had slept in.. found him curled up on the couch with them the next morning. 😍

This sweet old gal (Hurley) was the highlight of my week. She kept me up all night with her pacing and shed more hair than I’ve ever seen.. but I’ve never looked so forward to getting home to an animal after work than this gal. She is the most loving little thing. I definitely got attached and it was difficult to say goodbye yesterday 🥺 but thankful for the little place she’s made in my heart and the time I had with her ❤️.

Pork Chop and Doc 🥰 I can’t recall a moment over the weekend where I wasn’t kissed or snuggled on with these two. Pork Chop is stubborn but sweet as can be. Doc will literally love you to death. What a sweet pair!

Had a nice, relaxing time with this sweet gal over Thanksgiving. Her name is Pearl. 🥰 one of the friendliest, sweetest, kissiest dogs ever. She wiggled so much with excitement, I couldn’t get a photo that wasn’t blurry 😂

Who needs a man when you can have a fella like this. Meet Melvin 😍 Melvin provides endless snuggles, looks of adoration and all the drool you could ask for. A lovely Saint Bernard Spaniel mix. Sunday’s forecast = lots of napping with this weighted blanket Melvin.

Enjoyed my week with this guy 🥰 he gets sweeter and sweeter with every visit. Love watching him do his morning and nightly perimeter inspection of the back yard. My dear friend, Trigger.

This has got to be the sweetest side gig ever. Caring for dogs and getting all the snuggles. Can’t think of anything better. They really are like angels sent from God. These two were the most loving doodles. Patsy Cline and Kitty 🥰.

My heart was full yesterday.. and stressed from running back and forth through Carteret County checking on 8 dogs. But I loved every minute of it and enjoyed my time getting to know each one and their personalities.. what a crew 🦮🐶🥰

Mason… This fella is one of the smartest dogs I’ve met. He made the week enjoyable. He’s a pro at playing catch. He understands everything I say. A great companion. I will miss the bedtime snuggles minus the hot breath 😝

Meet Macon!! Not a dull moment over the weekend with this fella. His favorite game is to play chase.. where he holds an object in his mouth, pretends he’s going to walk up and share the object but then, SIKE… runs in the opposite direction and wants you to chase him.. Great company and nap buddy 🥰 .

Even though I work full time in New Bern now, I can still provide care in the Morehead City area on weekends and overnight stays and early mornings during the week. My last night with this little furry face is coming to an end. My first day with her, she’d hardly let me pet her head.. but by day 2, she’d already become the best nap buddy. I’ve enjoyed having a furry friend to greet me when coming back from work. She is the sweetest and the looks she gives when I move (or make the slightest sound) are hilarious. Can’t wait to hang with you again soon, sweet Dory. 🐾

After much thought, I've decided that pet sitting isn't consistent. Although I’ve enjoyed the break over the last month, I've accepted a new job position in New Bern starting July 6th. I’ve been staying with this fella for the past week and have learned a lot about him. I’m pretty sure he’s the champ of tug-of-war in Carteret County. When Tyson nudges me with a toy, he wants to play tug-of-war. When he drops the toy in front of me, he wants me to throw it. Also learned that when he smacks me in the face with his ginormous paw at 1 a.m., he has to p*e. He’s a great protector but also a big teddy bear.

I’m amazed daily by God’s creatures. I was just thinking how God makes everyone/ everything unique in creation. And perfect. Like this guy with the symmetrical markings on his face right down to the brown legs with a touch of white on his paws. Just makes me smile.

Hey everyone! Thanks for checking out Coastal Pet Sitting! My name is Anna and I’ve lived in Carteret County for all but five years of my life. For as long as I can remember, I’ve always felt comfort in being around animals; more specifically, dogs. Apparently, dogs also seem to be comfortable with my presence as I’ve been told I have an aura that draws them to me. Over the last few years, I’ve been getting more calls to take care of pets which I really enjoy so I decided to make it legit and start a pet sitting business. I am fond of other animals; dogs are just my favorite. They have been very therapeutic for me to be around; especially since my recent discovery and diagnosis of having ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder). ASD has its challenges in a normal work environment so I’m excited to take some time to do more of what I enjoy and hang with some fur friends! I look forward to caring for your pets!.
