Sharing again as a reminder-
Hi everyone. I’m updating this post, since it’s been a year and things have changed drastically,
We just want to remind everyone that as a (registered) 501c3, non-profit, organization; all of our volunteers/board members are unpaid. This is not our job. We draw no salary. In fact, all of us are parents, spouses, and employees of other businesses/self-employed business owners.
We do our very best to keep up with emails, Facebook messages, online adoption onquiries, phone calls etc. This is not always possible as we are working 40+ hours a week at our paying jobs to support our families.
Last year, our volunteers contributed over $16,000 of our own money to make up where donations fell short in providing the best care for our animals.
It is a very thin line between keeping adoption fees affordable, while vet costs are increasing, more and more animals need help and owners are attempting to surrender constantly- but having to work to contribute so much of our own money.
At this time: our email is the most efficient way to reach us for most questions. [email protected] We also have a web site: www.emcapnm.org and adoption inquiries can be filled out on the upper right hand corner.
Our cell phones are only for current fosters and recent adopters, because it has become overwhelming to keep up with constant calls and texts while we are working at our various jobs. (Only to be bashed if we don’t respond quickly.)
Please- just be nice, be kind, know we are doing our best. We will try to get back with you as soon as we can. But we are only checking emails once a day- so be patient.
Try to imagine working all day only to have to go to a second job right afterward, that is completely unpaid, emotionally heavy and people are mean to you for not doing it fast enough….

If you adopted from us, we paid your vet bill, brought you fencing, dog houses or food, or provided any other service to you, please leave a review.
Comment a pic of your EMCAP alumni pet with an update!
Some Stats: In 2024 we pulled over 560 puppies and kittens from various shelters with a high risk of euthanasia, as well as intaking litters from the community.
We spayed 100 moms with the help of FEVA, PACA and Western Trails veterinary hospital to make sure they never have to have babies again.
We are out here every day doing the work- so if it takes a little while to get a response, please understand: our hands are probably covered in puppy p**p, bottle feeding a baby, or drawing up vaccines for them.
Here’s a picture of adoptable puggies on the day we picked them up from the shelter and took them to a safe, comfortable foster home.
