My mother's mini foundered so I tried these little glue on shoes with a heart insert, gotta say other than being kinda a pain to shape these are easy little solutions to shoeing such a tiny critter. Add the fact he hobbled to me and ran full speed after kicking and playing again

And just like that a front is a hind! Shoe on left was just like the shoe on the right. I may run both front and hind on my truck but thanks to my mentor I can make a front do what I want if needed

When the heel is gone from an old injury, you gotta float it. Horse walks off great. Pretty wild seeing 3/4 of a foot

Some very cool lectures and classes at this year's international hoof care summit. It is a difficult time of year to attend these as things slow down but I devote myself to this one at least. This year I would very much like to attend a few more clinics and visit some friends in other states to practice and improve. I do this continued education for not just you the client, but for me as well. I want to be the best for the horse I can be 😁

The anvil isn't silent, but it's a lot quieter now. The truck doesn't stink as bad, and my crust from pizza is throw out the window. My arms don't get cleaned when I'm sweaty from working, and no more nudges with a wet nose when going to the next stop. You are missed bodean.

I'm not on here as much as I should be, it's been a long year. Got a new house, I live in sand lake now plus work plus bodean is declining severally in both physical and mental health. I have decided to try and build up the strength to say goodbye, possibly Friday. Most of my clients know I've never not been shoeing without her. This will be an adjustment for sure. I appreciate any well wishes ahead of time and this way everyone knows if they don't see her. She has been my best friend through the hardest times of life over these last 16-17 years. Caira will have some pretty big paws to fill.

Client got this horse in last Oct and loads of issues. Jammed heels and shoes 1 or 2 sizes too big, massive quarter crack and laminitis. First I did just a flat shoe with a frog support pad then we went barefoot for late winter. Now we did full set of sx8 with clips because I have some borium for pulling cart and synthetic pads with 2 part fill for cushion. In less than a year we got this quarter crack almost gone. Getting the feet trimmed and shod right was part of the battle, but having a client who listens and participates in overall horse husbandry is critical.

This started almost 2 years ago. I suspect something internal like possibly a coffin bone chip or deterioration or the like. Client didn't get rads. But over time and decent care and a proper schedule has finally shown fruitful. I'm happy to see this high/low case look mostly "normal" for himself again. It's good to remember hoof issues can take a long time to repair, be patient the hoof takes time but is dynamic and resilient.

Funny thing the end of this lecture on metabolic horses not one person had a question. Us farriers understand the concept it's the clients who don't listen. When I tell you fluffy could use less fluff im not being mean, I'm trying to save damage to the foot and keep your horse happy and healthy. I have more international hoof care summit nuggets coming it's been another great year of education and networking.

For those of you who are not on my personal page I will make an update here for you. I've been dealing with a rather sharp pain in the back but it has been now and then and I had more good days than bad so I figured it was just normal muscle fatigue from being a farrier. Well this year it has changed and even on good days I'm always sore. Bad days I can't get off my chair or the floor, or put on my own socks or pants or shoes. Well just like I push for your fluffy pets I went and got examined and x rays. Turns out I have arthritis in my hips and it's severe in the right. I'm still working, but if it gets bad I may contact to move stuff around. I'm waiting to get in with the orthopedic surgeon to get details on how bad and what needs to be done. If I need replacement I'll be sure to try and schedule for it and will probably have some farrier friends ride with me if needed till I recover. I'm not throwing in the towel by any means and I appreciate your patience as I struggle to maintain the business I've worked so hard to build from nothing. Us farriers are tuff and stubborn so don't count me out yet!
