I had to do another video to show the Wicked litter too! They’re up and moving and have their eyes mostlyyyy open. The last
Little eyeball closed is one of Bricks (yellow collar boy) while they both usually open at once, sometimes one will open before the other, making them look like pirates 🏴‍☠️

The Bridgerton litter has hit a big milestone: they’ve started on baby mush! This blend of formula, vitamins, and puppy food is their first step toward transitioning to solid food, and they’re already diving into it with enthusiasm which is absolutely hilarious to watch!

Meanwhile, the Wicked litter has some exciting news too—they’ve opened their eyes! Pictures of everyone coming this evening, I just have to add names to each picture :)

Every time we welcome a litter, especially with first-time moms, it’s always a mix of excitement and a lot of nerves as we wait to see how they’ll adjust. Motherhood doesn’t come naturally to every dog—some struggle, unsure of how to care for their puppies. They might avoid their babies, carry them around and accidentally drop them, unintentionally injure them by stepping, hopping, or lying on them. We have tragically lost pups this way before and it’s gut wrenching. In these cases, we have to step in and supervise around the clock, so with new mamas there’s always the big question: Will her instincts kick in, or will I have to take over completely?
If it’s the latter, it’s often a “one and done” situation for that mom and an exhausting few months for us.

For those unfamiliar with the early days of puppy care, it’s far more intense than most realize. Newborn puppies can’t go potty on their own for the first few weeks. Their mom has to stimulate them to relieve themselves, and if she doesn’t, we must step in. Without this help, they can become dangerously backed up which is fatal. Puppies also rely on their mom to regulate their body temperature. If she doesn’t keep them close and warm, their temperature can drop quickly, which can also be fatal. They nurse around the clock on mom, but if we have to step in and bottle feed, we have to feed every 2 hours. With a big litter, by the time you finish the feedings it’s only an hour until the next and weeks of this will start to a toll on you mentally, emotionally and physically. It’s a lot! The first few weeks are critical, and knowing everything that can go wrong makes us so much more grateful when a first-time mom steps into her role effortlessly. That’s why I am beyond thrilled and truly don’t take it lightly when I share that both Maybelline and Mela have been incredible moms! They’ve taken to motherhood naturally, doing exactly what they’re supposed to, and as a result, their puppies are thriving. Of course, we’re still providing around-the-clock care, but these two mamas have made the process so much smoother.

For those who follow our journey and know our dogs, you’ll notice Maybelline is a new face around here. She originally comes from Poland and is a Herbu Zadora girl. I’d seen her available for months and she’s a beautiful girl that peaked my interest, but I hesitated to add another dog at the time. Something about her kept drawing me back, though and every time I checked, she was still available. I adore Mela and her gentle, beautiful nature, and as fate would have it, Maybelline is related to her! Eventually, I gave in and brought her home. At the time, I felt a bit crazy for doing so, but not long after that, we lost two of our girls to our program—sweet Susie Q passed, and Bay retired due to a torn ACL. Looking back, I realize Maybelline came into our lives at just the right moment.

Annnd then there’s Mela—my “Moby Dick,” as I’ve jokingly called her! For two years, we tried to get pups from her without success and finally, after a lot of $ spent and a drive to GA, success! She has blessed us with an absolutely beautiful litter. They have both been the best mamas and I’m so thankful for how well they’ve done. They adore those babies and not only that, but they love each other and adore the other litter too. If a puppy is fussing, they both get upset and want to check to make sure it’s okay, whether it’s their own pup or not. So sweet! As always, thank you for your support and following our journey ♥️

It’s been a whirlwind few days but the Little Mermaid Litter passed their vet check with flying colors, received their microchips, shots, and got the all clear to start heading to their new homes. Triton and Sebastian have been picked up so far and Eric leaves shortly ♥️ I am so pleased with this litter and look forward to watching them mature. They are going to wonderful family’s and I know will be spoiled rotten!

I hope you have a happy and blessed day filled with family, love, laughter, and, of course, wonderful food! 🦃🍁

Even amidst some of the hardships we’ve faced lately, we are truly so blessed. I wanted to take a moment to thank you all for helping us do what we do. Our Penny Lane family and your support mean the world to us. Every like, comment, and message is deeply treasured. I’m especially thankful for the amazing families we’ve met along the way who have given our puppies such incredible homes. Thank you!

I also wanted to mention that with Labradors, three small children, puppies being born, puppies on the way, and connecting with so many wonderful families, I sometimes miss a message or comment. If you’ve sent a text or email and haven’t heard back, please don’t hesitate to send a reminder. Sometimes I see messages in the middle of a busy moment and forget to respond later, or my little one swipes away a notification, and I never see it again. I’ve also had some issues with inquiries going to spam.

If you’re on our waiting list, please reach out to me so I can ensure everything is in order. I don’t want to overlook anyone. This weekend, I’ll be sorting through inquiries and reaching out to families to get my ducks—er, pups—in a row. 😉

Thank you all for your patience, understanding, and support. I’m so grateful for each and every one of you. ♥️

Happy Thanksgiving! 🦃

Warm wishes,
Sarrah and the rest of the Mitchell-Dollar crew

I’m sad to say that our sweet Bay is officially retired. A few weeks ago, she started limping, and while we hoped it was just a minor sprain, the vet found that she had torn her ACL. It wouldn’t be right to let her go through a pregnancy after something like this so we have made the decision that her mommy days are over. Bay blessed us with one incredible litter, and if you have one of her puppies, you truly have a treasure. Her gentle soul, unmatched temperament, and the way she radiates kindness make her so special. ♥️ Not to mention how beautiful she is with her thick structure, lush coat, and that beautiful big bear head.

While it saddens me that there won’t be any more little ‘Bay Bears,’ I’m forever thankful for the ones she gave us and the joy they bring to the world. 🐻
