Does anyone have it on their hearts to give an old dog a home ?
I was asked to care for this Dog because her family had to move unexpectedly back in January. I got her back into good health and other than some old dog bumps and such, she's doing well.
She is good with all people, dogs, cats, chickens....... everything I have her around ! She will chase the horses on the fence line when they are playing around.
She is housebroken and very quiet.
Here's the problem. She is going after my pigs when I'm not around. She has injured them for the 4th time yesterday while I was in Ocala. I am expecting a litter any day now and I don't have a way to contain her. She is quite large and I don't have a big kennel. I just can't have her get a hold of a piglet.
I have kept in contact with her previous owner and she does know that Hazel couldn't stay here. Last week she told me that she moved somewhere that she couldn't have her and asked me to take her to a shelter. I feel like she deserves better than that. We have actually grown quite attached to the old girl but our farm is our livelihood and we can't have her doing damage or even killing an animal.
Anyone willing to love her for the time she has left? She is at least 10 years old and possibly GP/ lab mix?
