Boost your Horse’s Immune System during the Stress of Summer ☀️

There are many factors that can compromise the horse’s immune system. Stress, travel, and competition can put your horse at risk. Optimal care of the immune system is critical for a favorable immune response, especially during the stress of summer.

Boost your horse's natural immune response with the help of Eclipse' PM™.

Lots of questions about EPM. ****I am NOT A VET**** This is my personal experience on my own personal horses, if you have questions, consult your vet just as I consult mine.

We do treat prophylactically. That is not every vets recommendation. If I have horses that are “more sensitive” to injections, I like to start them on a week to ten days ahead of time. I treat if they look poor or stumble, miss a random step here and there. If they have been in a stressful situation are going into one, or coming out of one, I treat. If they are coming in from another trainer, I treat. If they aren’t “bloomy” looking or look behind in weight from all my other horses, I treat them. If they suddenly are acting spooky… I treat them. Generally at a minimum once a year, and then again if I notice anything random going on.

I know not everyone agrees with this, but out of the hundreds and hundreds of horses I have owned, this is the best protocol for me.

I have also noticed occasionally EPM gets confused with Lyme symptoms and vice versa. It seems to vary greatly be region, but I’ve had horses show symptoms all over the country.

I believe if caught super early, it’s super manageable, but by the time you’re treating with something like Marquis… you’re in for a ride.

I think that most people are not sensitive enough to their horses to catch on to small symptoms. Most horses are totally fine with maintenance protocol, but again, talk to your vet. If you want to go down the rabbit hole about epm… google it. lol but if you wonder what I am currently treating for, this is it.

Oh and the cost… most treatments are around $250-450 for 30 days here. Most vets will have you treat vs test. As the tests are known to not always have a correct outcome. Marquis is very expensive, if you go that route.

Pro tip: you can BET I have this in my trailer for summer in the vet box just in case.

What are Amino Acids?
Amino acids are the building block of protein and play a critical role in nearly all vital processes of the horse. Amino acids are used to build different protein chains for the body, forming enzymes, cell structures, muscle protein, connective tissue, hooves, hair, and more.

Horses require a total of 20 amino acids to build their body’s proteins, 9 of the 20 are considered essential. Essential amino acids must be provided in the diet, as the horse cannot synthesize or create them on its own. Whereas non-essential amino acids can be made on their own by the horse’s body.

A horse receives amino acids via protein consumed in the diet, such as forage and concentrates. The horse’s system breaks down the protein into amino acids and then the body puts these building blocks together into new chain-like protein assortments to make whatever is needed at that moment, such as new muscle tissue. This process is known as protein synthesis.

While the average non-working horse may meet their amino acids requirements with a good-quality forage and concentrate fed at the correct amount per label, that is not always the case; especially for younger, growing horses, broodmares, and horses with a heavy workload.

Preventative Care Tips for your Dog’s Joints 🐾

1. Work Closely with your Vet.
Developing a preventative care plan with your dog's vet can go a long way in keeping your dog’s joints in good shape for years to come. It is best take preventative measures early to maintain health rather than attempt to restore it after problems arise.

2. Start a Proper Diet Early On.
Owners that feed too much or feed too rich of a diet during the puppy stage can cause them to gain weight faster than their bones can handle, which can lead to orthopedic problems as they get older. Routine vet visits can also help ensure early detection of any joint related concerns.

3. Provide Consistent Exercise.
This is especially important for your dog's long-term health, as well-developed muscles around their joints will actually help to reduce the load joints have to bear themselves. This goes hand in hand with maintaining a healthy weight for your dog. Obesity can put strain on their joints resulting in faster wear and tear. Keeping your dog trim not only helps prevent issues from occurring, but can also help alleviate discomfort for dogs already experiencing joint concerns.

4. Consider a Joint Supplement.
At MVP, we know our dogs are family, and we want to ensure they’re happy, healthy, and comfortable. We believe starting your pup on a joint supplement can help keep your dog moving fluid and comfortably throughout all stages of life. Some of the best ingredients to look for in a joint supplement include glucosamine, chondroitin sulfate, MSM, and Hyaluronic Acid to help maintain joint cartilage and connective tissues. Our canine supplements are formulated with these key ingredients to target joint health and offered as chewable tablets and meal form.

Maintaining healthy joints is key to a horse’s performance and helping him move comfortably for years to come. Research shows that providing ingredients like glucosamine, chondroitin sulfate, hyaluronic acid, and MSM may be beneficial in supporting joint health and promoting a natural inflammatory response.

Exceed 6-Way™ took part in a clinical trial where 10 horses showed compromised joint health (confirmed by radiographs). All horses underwent clinical evaluations at 4 week intervals; 𝟗 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝟏𝟎 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟑𝟎 𝐝𝐚𝐲𝐬.

Nala has tons of ability to be a winner and is ready for someone to take her to the next level. She rides around nice and is well started on the pattern. We bred and raised her. I started her on the pattern and have entered her a few times this year. She has clocked right with some very nice horses with room for improvement. Her and I’s styles do not mix and I want her to go on to someone else where she can be successful. She’d prefer to be stiffer at speed than I like.

She is bred to be a winner. Her dad goes without saying and has produced winners from barrels to roping. Her mom set arena records and won a ton at rodeos. Her brother out of the same mare is in roping training with Douglas Rich and doing well and I think she could go that direction too. I have not roped on her yet.

She travels well and will stand tied to the trailer all night. No bad habits. She can be a little watchy in new places but just needs to be hauled. She turns out some in the front end but it hasn’t caused her any issues. Recently vetted by Outlaw Equine.
