Happy Halloween! 🎃👻 Today is a spooky day to trick or treat! We hope you and your fluffy companions have a safe and fun night! 🐾 Here are some tips to have for Halloween.

Tips 👇

🍬 Keep candies and candy wrappers away from pets.

👗 Don’t force your pets to wear costumes that they don’t want to wear. Choose a comfortable costume, and do not leave your pets unattended while they are dressed in it.

🎃 Be cautious with any dangerous decorations (watch for choking hazards, and do not leave any lit candles unattended).

🐾 Some pets do not like the stress from parties or trick-or-treaters. They are happier in a quiet room.

What’s the buzz?! 🐝 // We are now offering venom testing!

Just like people, your dog or cat’s reaction to a bee sting can vary from swelling at the site of the bite, to multiple skin hives, through to life threatening collapse (anaphylaxis). Reactions can occur within seconds or minutes of the sting.

If a life-threatening allergic reaction has occurred, diagnosis by allergy testing using a controlled dose of venom and desensitization (venom immunotherapy (VIT) are strongly recommended. ADC MTP has facilities for allergy testing and desensitization for bees and wasps.

When a bee or wasp venom allergy is confirmed, your pet can be placed on a venom vaccine (desensitization). The success rate of this in dogs is very high. Dogs who have had a life threatening bee sting reaction and have been treated with bee vaccine, if stung again, either suffer a very mild localised reaction, or no reaction at all.
