Happy to have been able to be part of Frank’s journey towards recovery! A good friend of mine donated FIP meds at the passing of his own found rescue kitty. Grateful for his generosity which in turn, saved Frank’s life. FIP is a beast, and we have helped so many kitties through the years beat this illness. Most importantly, it takes a community to work together in rescue and these are beautiful stories.
Barb is resting EASSSSSY as she shows up this week to present our first THANKFUL THURSDAY (which will eventually be SHOUT OUT SUNDAY...but we missed last Sunday)!
We have been trying to find ways to post everything we need and want to, without clogging everyone's newsfeeds (even though we know the cute puppy pictures and goat photo opps are hard to resist...), so we're going to do a weekly THANK YOU post to all of the kind folks who donated, helped and/or offered us support over the course of a week.
This week, it's going to be a lot. We had a TON happen in the past couple weeks and we fortunately had a flock of people come forward to support us! We would like to extend loving thank you's to:
💚 Everyone who has purchased t-shirts on our fundraiser through Bonfire.
💚 The aunt and uncle of the sanctuary who sent us a much needed Chewy gift card a couple weeks ago for supplies and then showed up with cans and well wishes after Frank's initial diagnosis, checking in each day to see how he is and encourage him.
💚 Our sanctuary fairy godmother who, not only, covered Australia's surgery last week and the pre-surgery consult (that's a lottttt), but also stepped in to help cover Frank's meds, part of his medical bill AND was on the phone or texting throughout our ordeal offering words of wisdom, encouragement and support. "Mandy, don't worry yet," are probably some of the most simple but most powerful words anyone has said to me.
💚 The BeBe's shelter pal Kyle who went grocery shopping for them to load us up on all the ingredients needed for their food and then sent his human mom to us yesterday to deliver it. We hear they're getting more and this is after they already brought the girls a food delivery a few weeks ago!
💚 A new friend who donated in memory of our sweet friend Lori--something she would have loved so much
💚 Our long distance friend who was the first to send funds to help with Frank's medical expenses, after he had just generously helped us with the Rabbitat.
💚 An out of state friend who thoughtfully sent us surprise greeting cards that she makes and donates, with an offer to make more when we need them.
💚 All of the kind folks who jumped in to donate to Frank's MSU bill on his post--we don't know who you are yet, but we appreciate you!
💚 Grace for helping with Frank's initial bill and then driving us to MSU, sitting with us all night, helping ask questions, offering a medical perspective throughout the process, getting us food, and being a much needed level head, then sending me home in her car and checking in with us in person the next day.
💚 Wendy for showing up multiple times, answering all calls, sharing posts, and checking in with us constantly, basically giving up her sanity to be my friend and a part of my support system
💚 Paige for always being a voice of reason in hard situations, sprinkled with just the right amount of caution and empathy...and for driving out to pick up cans, returning them and driving the cash back to me when I had too much on my plate to get to them (with little notice), as well as also checking in, answering impromptu calls and texting daily
💚 Paige's Grandma-in-law for jumping in to offer a donation when she heard we needed help
💚 Kelley for also doing everything in her power to listen, send well wishes and be a shoulder, despite being too far away to roll in to help--even though she wants to
💚 Dr. Rousseau at MPAH for agreeing to squeeze Frank in last Friday and for working on his diagnostics in between appointments during an already busy day and then for communicating further on his case Saturday and sending records to MSU after hours
💚 Mystie at Karma Kat Cafe for having extensive knowledge on FIP diagnosis and treatment through her own trials and boldness, having meds on hand to offer to us quickly, offering guidance in such an overwhelming situation, and providing support during this entire journey. It is because of her communication and willingness to get us meds quickly that Frank is alive, truly.
💚 The kind staff and vets at MSU for dealing with the insanity that was Saturday night. They have been wonderful each time I've been there and they deal with such heart-wrenching situations constantly.
💚 Amy at Four Paws for always checking in on us, offering help, cheering on our kids, and suggesting Loop use and other therapeutic treatments that others may miss. Looping Frank four times a day to reduce inflammation very likely helped him a lot too in partnership with his medication.
💚 Our kind pet supply donor who met me yesterday with more very useful supplies and another bag of cans.
💚 A steady supporter who is a retired vet and brings us goodies that she doesn't need when she is visiting Four Paws. The last bed she donated has gone over very well here.
💚 The kind folks in Midland who offered up raw cat food when I put up a post about our damaged order and then donated more to us after the initial rush to get a package.
💚 Dr. Wade and M20 Animal Hospital for just being supportive and wonderful.
💚 Jeff, the poor man who lives in this house and has to deal with all of this chaos, stress, emotion and financial undoing day in and day out. His calm, unstressed presence is truly vital when dealing with my wild, outrageous, "spirited" being and his tolerance is sometimes overlooked but is truly appreciated so much.
💚 Everyone who has sent good vibes, well wishes, kind words, and checked in with us during the struggles we are facing. We are appreciative of every ounce of care.
Please forgive me if I forgot something or messed up some details. I'm very zombie-like at this point, I'm sleep deprived and worry-drowned, and my brain is LOWWWWW functioning. Just know that if you've helped and supported, we are so so grateful--regardless of the size of contribution and regardless the type of help. Every ounce helps us give the best life to these kids 💚
