Tucker is a 6 1/2 year old Collie with high energy looking for his forever home. He is currently in training with me as his temporary owners are trying to find him a better suited home. Tucker was living with an older couple who could not keep up with his energy needs. He is currently working on his leash reactivity but walks very well on leash. He has all basic commands, UTD on shots and is fixed. His main issue are barking in the home, and not having an outlet for his energy. He is good with other dogs who can tolerate an energetic dog. If you are interested in meeting Tucker, please let me know. I am offering training sessions for the new owners to make a smooth transition for this sweet boy.

A few months ago when I did a poison prevention seminar at PG&Js Dog Park Bar I talked about “baiting.” This is another example of that.

This week I am out in Fort Eustis, VA helping an Army buddy train her 122 lbs. King Shepherd. Luca is 18 months and as you can tell by his size, needs some help learning impulse control so his mom can handle him on leash.

Meet Atlas, a 1yr old GSD/Border Collie mix. He has been with me for over a month to work through some issues that caused his family to surrender him for rehabilitation and rehoming. Atlas is a very sweet boy but has a protective instinct. He would do best in a home with NO children and NO cats. He gets along great with other dogs. He does best with a female owner but is able to be with a man as well, just takes longer to warm up. This mouthy boy loves to play fetch and tug, but will also sleep on the floor next to your bed after cuddles. If you are interested in meeting Atlas, contact me at 502-509-4767.

Potty trained, crate trained, ecollar trained, listens very well, and good recall. Adoption comes with 3 training sessions to make sure he fits in well with his new family.

Great advice from our friends at NexGenK9!

Let's talk about petting unfamiliar dogs 🐕

I know, when you see the cute face, wiggling butt, or puppy squish of a dog in public it can be hard to resist the urge to want to approach and pet or love up on them. But for that dogs well-being, the owners and possibly yours... PLEASE DON'T!

Why, you may ask? Let us share a few possible scenarios:

That dog may be a nervous dog who is getting out in the world to conquer its fear. A (scary) stranger approaching and sticking their hand out to pet them does not help this situation. Imagine walking down the street or sitting on a bench in a park and a stranger walking up to you and caressing your face. 😬

It's possible the pup you're about to approach becomes easily over-the-top excited by new people, and the owner is working on training their dog to be more neutral in this situation. Your presence and physical stimulation would contradict all the hard work the owner is putting in.

This dog may not be friendly with strangers OR just may not like you! AND THE DOG HAS EVERY RIGHT TO NOT LIKE A PERSON (or many people). We guarantee you do not like every person you meet. Does anyone ? 🤔😆😉

Now, if someone has gone the extra mile to even throw a "DO NOT PET" sign on their dog, don't be rude and approach anyways and start petting the dog. Usually, if they have gone this far as to advertise visually, there is a VERY GOOD REASON.

Meet Atlas! He will be staying with us for the next few months to assess his behavior. Atlas was surrendered to Good K9 after several instances of aggression. The owners knew euthanasia was not his only option, but feared for the safety of their own child. Thankfully our friends at Derby City Dog Walk LLC contacted us and we arranged to take him for an aggression rehabilitation stay. Be sure to follow along on his journey!
